rotarians planning easter seal campaign to the 0500 handicapped children scattered throughout the province of ontario on farms in city homes or in remote northern hamlets the 1956 sale of easter seals means hope to them the easter seals bring treatment and training a possibility of indepen dencc and relief from the physical handicaps that birth illness or accid ent left them last year the ontario society for crippled children whose only appeal for funds is made in the annual sale of easter seals by 211 ser vice clubs carried out the biggest program in all its history and this year the 9 900 youngsters who are listed on their roles as active cases will increase because ontario s swift ly growing population means hund reds of new cases each year the ob jective of the 1956 easter seal cam paign which will run from march 1st until april 1st is 625 000 in georgetown the rotary club is the local easter seal service club john gunn president of the rotary club of georgetown announced today the names of the club members who would conduct the campaign on the clubs behalf committee members arc bob burns ralph hawcs maurice mandcrson and dick shearly by contributing to the easter seal campaign you help crippled children in many ways you provide them with a nursing service you sponsor closetohome clinics you send them to camp you provided hospital and therapy treatment for them you help them with transportation and many other services too numerous to men tion many orthopaedic surgeons and physicians contribute their time and great skill in straightening little limbs it s a great team the ontario society the easter seal service clubs the surgeons and physicians and you who made it all possible with your easter seal dollars many a young man and woman walks proud and upright today because you helped them wednesday evening feb 22nd 1s56 the georgetown herald two motorists are killed every day in rural ontario one in four of these accidents happens on the farmer s doorsteps last year nearly 800 persons were killed in motor mishaps oulsde urban areas one in every four such accidents in rural ontario occur red at a rural intersection or farm lane connection with a major hifh way in marry cases farmers were in no way involved in more cases farm drivers probably were innocent victims ofcareless highway motorists but farmers and their families died in some of thebc association which commenced in early november arth ur robertson of the dept of agricul tural economics at the oac was the special speaker at the closing session the topic was formation of a farm management association at tho conclusion of the session some twenty one farm operators expressed a desirt to organize such an association in halton the election of officers re suited as follows
