hbtorts most shhicnre woman cedlrdemilles oaudette georgetown ngs will be trying hard tonight to clinch the ontario intermediate b lacrosse champion ship wherf they play their fourth game with brookun in the local ar ena after dropping the opener ng came back to wn the next two and two more wins will put them on top of the neap in brooklln friday night the home team was trimmed 73 with junior beaumont and len caruso getting three goals apiece and scotty moddison one win close one here the brooklln boys were here last wednesday and as quite often pro ves to be the case they werent nearly as tough away from home as they were on their own stamping grounds playing a superior brand of lac rosse and holding their own ln the stickswinging department the local ng 5 emerged on the long end of a 106 count in the game in sharp contrast to the game in brookun nvhich was badly mishan dled by piper bain and mickey mc donald this game was well handled by joe murphy and alex edmunds murphy who 11 his playing days wasnt averse to rattling an oppo- ent s ribs with a butt end seems to have reformed since he became an official and frowns on unnecessary roughness which is as it should be the fans who like the slaughter house type of lacrosse are fortun ately in the minority and are no asset to any community the game started out as if it could be a repe tition of the affair in brooklln but the officials in control of the game from the outset quelled any incip ient outbreaks by thumbing the off enders to the penalty box thir teen penalties handed out in the first half including match miscon ducts to craggs of brookun and mccandless of the ngs served to cool out the rival gladiators as a result they stuck strictly to lacrosse in the last half only two enforced rests being meted out both for minor offences georgetown hit quickly in the first period and ran in a total of six goals while holding the visitors to two counters the teams split four goats in the second quarter brook in outscored the homesters 2 1 in the third jim cleave scored the only goal of the final canto to bring the final count to 10 6 len caruso and junior beaumont were twogoal men for the ngs gra moddison wil son mccandless gardhouse and cleave had singles brandon scored two for the brookhnites craggs robson mac- key and cook scored singles the addition of caniso to the lineup he missed the game in brookun added a lot of punch to the nitgs attack always a threat caruso scored the nicct goal of the game with ngs playing two men short he took a break away pass from moddison on the dead run and handcuffed the brookhn goalie with a blazing waist high drive from twenty feet out johnny haines turned in a sound game on the loc als rearguard 7ke mccandless up until the time he was sent for an early shower was passing the ball more than usunl due in part no doubt to a wholesome respect for the weight of the brooklln sticks cuthbert came up with some clever saves when brooklln were pressing a couple of the local rookies mis sed good opportunities to add to the scoring total through over anx- lousness when in a scoring position the game while something less than spectacular was sufficiently crowdpleasing to warrant a larger attendance at the next gfcune it would be a good idea if some of the stay away fans were to desert the television set for the evening and come down to the rink and sup port the local heroes who have a better than even chance of bring ing georgetown its first lacrosse championship since grandpappy was a boy bh slaterbradley nuptials in st albans
