convention theme mrs w a watt president of the associated country womens institute of the world and first woman to in troduce the womens institute into england was the guest speaker at the recent afternoon session of the womens institute convention held norfolk street church ouelph mrs watt spoke on postwar plann ing bvw a expr th o ion that the role of the country wo man will be a tremendous one in post wai work without the farm woman there can be no progress or stability without the farm home ho neighbor hood life stressing the importance- of the lo cal womens- institute in the com munity and pointing out its tremen dous asset in any society she told of the large part the womens institutes play in the world its friendliness member to member community to community province to province made it such that there is no other international society like it country women should be includ ed on administrative bodies and pol icy making bodies she stated and added that the organization should put pressure to bear to ensure their inclusion in settling world problems no reminder is needed today as to the acute need for development of the food supply the country cannot be fed without the farm women and they should be consulted regarding the feeding ol the postwar world mrs watt feels that the use of the land should be planned that the rich agricultural land should be protected she feeli that the country woman knows the right use of the land and that it la up to her to show its right use she urged the women to make their views and feelings known to men who think of included the milk bar by miss marjorle mocready halton county leader and member provincial honour girl and who has been se lected to attend the chicago interna tional 4h olub congress in decem ber miss cleo schnurr bruce coun ty one of the 2100 ontario farm girls who were members of the girls garden brigades this year spoke on vegetable storage miss francis crlpps halton county gave an ex
