huntingdon que gleaner were made life members ot the canad ian weekly newspapers association at its annual meeting last week former mayor of burlington mr harris is wellknown in canadian newspaper circles he joined the canadian press association in 1902 and is one of the 11 living foundat ion members of the cwna he has served as a director of both organizations during his turbulent newspaper career he was served with six libel suits although- none reached court proceedings active in public affairs he was elected reeve of burlington from 192123 warden of halton county in 1922 and became mayor in 1923 in earlier days mr harris fought through the editorial columns for establishment of secondary educat ion and various public works for his community editor adam l sellar was born in huntingdon quebec where he has published the gleaner since 1922 the wellknown canad ne paperman and publisher is past- president of cwna he establish ed la gazette valleyfield bcau- harnois in 1936 responsibilities which they owe their readers although most of the delegates guests and hosts arrived tuesday evening the only official business carried on before the next morning was a short directors meeting the remainder of the delegates circul ated through the manoir richelieu meeting associates whom they had not seen since the previous con vention in vancouver attendance at wednesday s meet ings was spurred by the offer of door prizes to the first delegates to arrive however the hotels noted golf course the swimming pool and other lessathletic endeavors lured many delegates away
