was passed that an architect be consulted regard- ig the renovation of the george town high school the purpose of the motion was to determine if th department of education would ap prove of rebuilding and to secure a comparison of costs between ren ovation and new building the matter was placed in the hands of the new building committee and the board by motion selected j d kyles architect of hamilton to contact for this information it was also urged by the chair man that members contact their municipal councils to ascertain their stand on the building program i for schools m acton and george- i town and gymnasium in milton and to acquaint councils with the i plans and secure their cooperation i accounts amounting to 4100s20s i were passed for payment and the borrowing bylaw for up to 00000 i was passed to meet expenses until i the grants and levies were received the budget for the year was considered but left over until the 1 next meeting for further details i the figures submitted indicated that the levies on the municipal es would be about 47000 us compared with 24 000 last year i this levy increase came about largely through changes m grants the principals of acton and georgetown schools submitted i their budgets for the year and the acton budget amounted to 1760 and george own 1005 these were referred to the finance com- mittee for submission at the next community was indeed shocked to learn of the sudden passing of rev w g luxton rec tor of st albans church at the tectory here early tuesday morn ing mr luxton had been active as usual and had attended a meet ing in rockwood on monday even ing he passed in his sleep earl tuesday morning william gruer luxton was n s of mrs margaret luxton and the late arthur g h luxton and was born at mount forest on novem ber 17 1899 he attended mount forest public and high schools and received his ba degree from the university of toronto and grad uated m theology from trinity college toronto he was ordained in 1923 rev mr luxton served his church in parishes at holland man itoba fergus and aldershot and lame to st albans in acton and st johns in rockwood just four years ago during his incumbency here he has endeared himself not only in jhe hearts ot his congreg ation but with every citizen of the communities where he has served su quietly so faithfully and so ef ficiently memorials of his zeal and work for his church and his people are the fine parish hall in rockwood and the beautiful parish hall in acton which is nearing completion in their building he was the leader of the flock working with them giving encouragement on tuesday night the vestry meeting of st albans was scheduled and here was to be revealed the story of the uluntary work of the eongregatr ion m their erection in their w alls ls built not only usefulness and beauty but also the labor of love of a pastor and his people it is a regret that he did not see the fulfilment of the task he had un- dei taken in 1935 mr luxton married assessment to be used as a basis georgetown refused to sign the necessary paper because it contained reference to the levy of the north halton high school district board solicitor willis representing georgetown asked to have includ ed in the agreement something to the effect that this settlement would not affect any future pro ceedings other representatives in cluded in the north halton high
