tai4ay ihctuc although the event on saturday was named a picnic given by the bcardmore co to the employees it was more true there was all the pleasure- of the picnic outinc and boundless entertainment but the highlight came when seventy em ployee ton the longservice list were honored the spirit ws further shown in those three line on the pro gram in recognition of their con tribution to canada- war effort it was a relaxation a seventhinning stretch for renewed effort before fin- lining the game that hitler started when between 1400 and 1nh folk are entertained and fed from two oclock in the afternoon until eleven oclock in the evening and not a dull j moment its some picnic such wa i the event that the beardmorv co i tendered its employees their famll- j tea and friends last saturday- the park had on a gala attire of stream ers lights and platforms and pre- preparation perhaps the story best told if we take the events in the order of the schedule rather than make an at tempt at country surrendered to the germans and was on the train which was for tunate enough to learn of the collapse of france and withdraw from that country before being trapped jim was a member of tick fskc insaa staff for four years and served his apprenticeship here as a printer he was working at the trade in oshawa at the time of his enlistment many of the sport fans will remem ber his baseball and hockey columns of ttts fsxr passs he was a staunch follower of any sporting event his letters from overseas to tats fan passs have been most interest ing we look forward to his recov ery with our doble he was their only son sgt doble was navigator on a halifax bomber and was attached to the ferry command of the raf before going overseas in september 19ta he has been on bombing raids for the
