tendance after a bountiful supper a short program was enjoyed a toast list under the leadership of the class pre sident miss eileen mcpherson was as follows toast to mother proposed by miss enid mcnabb responded to by mrs albert toast to the girls- class proposed bj mrs e weatherston re sponded to by mrs albert beard the class teacher headings were given by mrs d mcnabb miss mabel pindley and miss muriel gray an instru mental number by miss jean mclean duetts by misses anna and muriel mc nabb and misses doris and wjlma milne miss eleanor boucher said the grace before supper and misses lua laverty frances mcnabb and margery beard served at the tables the womens missionary society of the united church held their thank offering meeting in the church last thursday evening with a good attend ance mrs robt williamson the pre sident presided during the meeting a varied program given by different organizations of the church was much enjoyed by those present at the close refreshments were served and a social time enjoyed by all on sunday evening the womens mis sionary society of the presbyterian church held their thank offering meet ing in the church and were greeted with a large attendance mr c j mc kay took charge of the service and rev w j taylor also assisted special numbers by the choir were much ap preciated which included a solo by mrs robt henderson or simcoe the main feature of the evening was an address by miss dorothy douglas of formosa who is home on furlough who delighted her audience with her instructive talk in connection with her work and during the address displayed some curios she brought with her which were the more interesting as mr mckay called upon miss douglas to come to the platform the choir and audience rose in unison aud greeted the guest speaker of the evening the many friends and asso ciates of miss douglas- who was at one time on the staff of the local school were pleased to see her and other teach ers who were associated with her society of the united church held a social time in the sunday school room of the church on monday evening after devotoinal exercises under the leadership of george day games under the leadership of
