The new ore is above the 825- ft. level east of the shaft and is close to the No. 11 orebody turn- ed up earlier this year. So far only a few holes have been poked into the area but initial results have been decidedly encouraging. There are possibilities for two zones, it is gathered from Mine Manager W. P. Houston. One of the better intersections returned 2.3 ft. grading 26.5 per cent copper in one zone while an- other in the.second zone returned 14.84 per cent copper across 4.5 ft. Considerably more drilling wilt be necessary before the full po- tential of the new zones can be determined. The No. 11 orebody has been in- dicated for a length of about 150 ft. Several of the better intersec- fions in this 150-ft. were as fol- lows: 8.89 per cent copper across 7.5 ft.; 21.62 per cent across 3.0 ft.; 15.36 per cent over 2.8 ft.; and 5.94 per cent across 2.1 ft. A crosscut is now being advanc- ed north of the main drive on the $25 ft. level from which further investigation of the No. 11 will be carried out. The No. 10 orebody discovered last year at the extreme east end of the 525-ft. level and slightiy below it, has been explored more fully by drilling and is now esti- mated to contain a minimum of 2,500 tons grading 8.0 per cent copper. It had previously been es- timated to contain some 1,000 tons with the same grade. Important ore additions have al- so been found in the No. 5 ore- body. This had been mined from above the 400-ft. level to the 525- _ At Temagami Mining ft. level east of the shaft. A drill hole put down below the 525 has picked up the down dip extension of the No. 5, returning an excei- lent intersection of 17.46 per cent copper across an estimated true width of 13.0 ft. The occurrence is still wide open below the level. The No. 6 orebody, the largest at the mine, and located west of the shaft, has been about half min- ed between the 825-ft. or bottom level and the 525 level. The No. 6A, which looks like the upward extension of the No. 6 has not been touched as yet. It is located just above the 400-ft. horizon and is estimated to contain 10,000 tons grading 7.0 per cent copper. There are indications that the No. 6 extends below the 825-ft. horizon, but just how'far has yet to be determined. A deep boring drilled verticaily below the 825, picked up favorable geology and structure for a considerable dist- ance below the level and a nar- rower intersection, carrying mas- sive chalcopyrite, was encountered at the 1,700-ft. horizon, it is gath- ered from T. Patrick, consulting geologist at the mine. Mining of the No. 3 orebody east of the shaft and above the 400- ft. level is now being carried out. This orebody extends from above the 300-ft. horizon to about lake bottom and extreme care is being taken in the mining of it. Raises have been driven into the bottom of the ore from the 300-ft. sub-level and a sill has been slashed out. Shrinkage stoping will be carried upwards a safe distance after which ore will be drawn and back- fill placed in the mined area. Af- ter mining of No. 3 has been com- pleted it is planned to seal the area off from the rest of the mine. Surface drilling is being carried out on the Clark zone located south of the easternmost workings. This zone is generally low grade but there may be higher grade sections which could be mined. Results have been difficult to correlate and further driiling will be necessary to determine ore possibilities. Well to the east of the workings a long hole, to cross-section virgin ground, obtained interesting cop- per mineralization which is to be investigated further by drilling. The mill is currently handling 150 tons daily with concentrates being stockpiled. The mine is lo- cated on Temagami Island about three quarters of a mile from the mainland and thus during the breakup period, which is now on, concentrates have to be stockpiled: The installation of a secondary crusher in place of the former jaw type at the shaft headframe, has resulted in a lowering of grinding costs. : slightly from the 113,668 tons grad- ing 8.4 per cent copper reported at the end of June, last year. However, none of the new ore in- dications such as the No. 11 have been included in current figures. Once this ore is properly delineat- ed and opened up it is expected that reserves will approximate two years' supply at the current mill- ing rate, or about the same as the end of June, last year. Although deep holes below the bottom level has shown mineral- ization and favorable geology and structure there are no immediate plans to deepen the shaft. There is still plenty of areas which will bear investigation on the present levels, it is gathered from Mr. Patrick. ; The most pregnant area, at the moment, appears to be above the 825-ft. level east of the shaft where the No. 11 and possibly two new orebodies have been found in a jength of 700 ft. Considerably more drilling is slated for this area. The No. 9 orebody, which is currently being mined, lies just to the east of the No. 11. It is estimated to contain about 3,000 tons. grading 10 per cent copper. Camp Bonnie Doon | y= Has Social Evening Mrs. S. Following adjournment a social evening was held, to which mem- bers had invited friends. A large turnout was present to take part in the Penny Sale and games. Winners for Canasta were Mrs. B.
