Father -Nix- on acted as chairman and opened the meeting with prayers followed by the reading of the rules govern- ing Vestry meetings from the Dio- cesan Canons. Mr. Edwin Young was elected Vestry Clerk. 'Father Nixon gave a brief re- _ port on the spiritual life of the parish, and commended his parish- oners for being faithful to their spiritual duties and in their good works. The financial report of the parish was presented by Miss Alyce Ross, and showed that sound progress has been made during the past year in meeting obligations outside and within the parish. It was em- phasized by Father Nixon that if 'each parishoner would increase their weekly' offering slightly, it would assist with the general up- keep of the parish property. Presentation of reports were re- ceived from the various groups in the parish. The Women's Auxiliary by Mrs. J. Gilkes; the Church School by Mr. Cyril Grozelle; the Choir by Jim Nitholls; the Bible Reading Fellowship by Mrs. F. Cooper; the Servers' Guild by Mr. Ron Taylor; the Junior Auxiliary by Mrs. Stan Horncastle and the Girl's Auxiliary by Mrs. J. Gilkes. ' Father Nixon announced the ap- pointment of Mr. George Stewart as Rector's Warden for the next two years. Cobalt Entries Star At Noranda Tourney Noranda was the setting for a week-end badminton tournament with clubs from" Noranda, Tim- mins, Kirkland Lake, Larder Lake and Cobalt entered. Haileybury Rink Enters School Curling Tourney Haileybury High School curlers were worthy ~ representatives of their school and lost out to Nor- anda High School in the semi-finals last week-end at the Kirkland Lake Curling .Club in a very close game. The Haileybury High Schook team was skipped by Rodney Dor- an, with John Horncastle vice- skip, Paul Hough second and Bob Grozelle lead and the team was coached by Fred Austin. There were eight teams entered and they were divided into two groups. In group A weré Hailey- bury, Noranda, Virginiatown and McIntyre. In group B were Kirk- land Lake, Iroquois Falls, New Liskeard and Kapuskasing. The Haileybury rink won their first game from McIntyre and then met Virginiatown. After being two up coming home the Haileybury rink lost their second game which they played against Virginiatown. Their third game was with Nor- anda which they won easily 8-3, making a three-way tie in Group A between Noranda, Haileybury and Virginiatown. Noranda won the bye and Haileybury played Virginiatown and won that game. In Haileybury's second time to meet Noranda an extra end was required after the teams were tied 10-10 after ten ends were played. With Noranda having the last rock in the extra end they defeated}: Haileybury 11-10. Noranda then played Kirkland Lake who were the winners of|} Group B and won 12-3 to win the} Frank McDowell Trophy and the) right to represent the Temiskam-} ing and Northern Ontario Curling Association Schoolboys at Kapus-.| kasing. .The Canadian Schoolboys Curling Championship this year will be played in Prinee George, | British Columbia. There will be two celebrations of the Holy Eucharist in thanksgiving for the life and witness of the Anglican Communion in the community. The latter was on tour for 'J. M. C. with his "Quatuor Mule", a saxophone quartet. This meet- ing inspired Pierre Borque 'to at- itend the J.M.C. Summer Music , Camp where a member of the quartet, Georges Gourdet, was iteaching. He then made his way to' Paris and was admitted to the 'Conservatoire'. He recently won in his class and' was granted a one-month leave of" absence in order to undertake this' tour for J.M.C.
