The mes- sage will go simultaneously by radio to all parts of the world and will be relayed in Canada on the C.B.C., radio and T.V. net- works, and will be heard on all stations. On CBC-TV, still pho- tographs will be on the screen while Her Majesty is speaking. It is 25 years since the first Christmas Day message by the Sovereign was broadcast by King George V, in 1932. The messages have been heard every Christmas since then except in 1936 (the year of the Abdicat- ion) and in 1938. In 1951, when King George VI was ill, the broadcast was recorded. PRELUDE TO THE QUEEN For the period immediately preceding the Queen's. message the B.B.C. has prepared, for ra- dio, another of the traditional Christmas Day programs from around the Commonwealth and, for television, a film entitled "Prelude to the Queen."
