TUES. DEC, 24th. 1957 Christmas Party At Moore's Cove Moore's Cove School was the scene of the Annual Christmas Concert-on Thursday, December 19, Mr. Norman McCarty, presi- dent of the Home and School Association was chairman. The Sr.} Room led the singing of O Canada. followed by two chor- uses, "Up in Santa Land" and "A Christmas Carol" in two parts, by J. S. Brahms. The Jr., Room took the audi- ence to London along with the school cat "Morco" while she visited the King and Queen. The Rhythm Band, accompanied at the piano by Rosalynn Murphy. HOLIDAYS GROCERY REAVELL played and sang "Jingle Bells" and " A German Folk Song." The Sr. Room boys visited Lem Haskins' Store where they all gossipped and spent a happy time with Lem. Joanne and Jac: queline Vahey sang a delightful duet "Two Little Maids". The Jr., Room posed a riddle as they sang "Who is Coming on Ohristmas Night?" A group of Sr. Girls became doting mothers for the evening and brought their precious little darlings to school for the first time to meet the new teacher. The audience reaction was one of deep sympathy for the teacher, With spotlights focussed upon a high shelf upon which small figures represented the Manger Scene against a mural of desert on one side and Bethlehem's green hills on the other, the Sr., Room sang the Christmas Story in carols and recited in unison Luke 2: 8-16. Scarcely had the last carol died away when Santa came up- on the scene to distribute zifts and thrill the thearts of the youngest members present. Mr. Ira Murphy, on behalf of the Canadian Legion Branch 33 in New Liskeard, presented Mr. McCarty with a cheque which the Home and School Associat- ion will buy Cod Liver Oil cajp- sules for the children of the school. Mr. McCarty then pre- sented Mrs. Homer Ross, past president of the Home and School with the pin of the As- sociation in recognition of her wonderful leadership in the be- ginning year of the Moore's Cove Home and School Associa- tion. These dances put on by the curling club are getting more popular each year and are very well organized. Look for it every Saturday night, HOSPITAL REPORTS Clayton Dunn, accountant at Misericordia hospital, has an- nounced that to date the hospi- tal's campaign for funds has brought in $65,176.30. He said that the thospital's own labor force is being used to construct the cafeteria and diet kitchen. He added that the hospital hopes to commence building the new wing for chronic patients some- time in 1958, but it will depend upon the amount of money com- ing in, and what grants can be obtained from the government.
