Hugh Armstrong, Norman Abraham and Gordon Short were appointed to a sub-committee to meet with the district biologist to look over certain lakes in the immediate area to determine the possibility of having them poi- soned and re-stocked to encour- age better fishing. Tests will be made to determine what type of fish would be best suited for these lakes, The question of getting wild rice to plant in marshes throu- ghout the district to promote better duck hunting was brought up once again and although the Department of Lands and Forests officials advised it almost caught Loon OZS., Fairy OZS., Lake was impossible to obtain a visitor suggested contacting a firm in Western Canada who, he felt sure, could supply any quantity. The Department's system of re-stocking lakes by. aircr came in for considerable criticism and many members felt that lakes accessible by road shoul: be re-stocked by trucks as in the past. Members also felt that more fish should be made available for this district from the Hills' Lake hatchery and a request will be forwarded to the Department concerning this matter. A resolution will be sent to the Department requesting that notices be posted in post offices advising the opening and closing dates for fishing and hunting in this district. It was felt that the present system is much too confusing and in some cases the regulations were not being re- ceived by local license issuers far enough in advance of the season, One member suggested that some action should be taken to cut down the number of does and § deer § complained § against the deer season opening § and closing in the middle of the # week. He pointed out that the § two week-ends to get out instead of § fawns taken during the season, Another working man only had four. A resolution passed at meeting asked that a catch of fish in allowed for re sidents stead of one day as it is at the present time.
