Miss Margaret Bromley, R.N., of the staff of the Ottawa Civic Hospital, is in town for a holiday visit with her mother, Mrs. Bromley, and her sister, Mrs. H. Briden, and Mr. Briden. South African Flowers Sent to Local Resident Yesterday morning, Mrs. J. W. Hughes received, from friends in South Africa, a beautiful bouquet of chincherinchees, more com- monly known as the South eAfri- can wonder flowers, which were shipped at the first of the month. The parcel arrived in good shape, and it is claimed for the species that the bloom will last from now until Easter, The bloom is some- thing like a white narcissus, Mrs. Hughes says, and is very beautr- ful. Friends she met at Durban while on a world tour some years ago, sent along the blooms, Mrs. Hughes said. Excessive tidiness is said to indicate a mild form of insanity, from which most newspapermen are happily im- mune. Christmas Bazaar Held by Public School Pupils A very successful Christmas bazaar was held by the pupils of Grades V and VI at the local pub- lic school recently. The class- room was gaily decked for the oc- casion and the booths looked very attractive with their red and green streamers and colored balloons Home-made candy, hot popcorn balls, novelties and woodwork, mostly made by the boys and girls themselves, were on sale for the rest of the school to buy. The proceeds which amounted to $38.- 56, are to be sent to the Junior Red Cross Crippled Children's Fund. Mrs. Crutcher is the tea- cher. WANT ADS. In a series of six motor acci- dents investigated by provincial police in the district, there was only one serious injury sustained. The victim was Mrs. Archie Brown of New Liskeard, who sut- fered a fractured knee-cap on Tuesday evening at 6.30. A car driven by her husband ran off the main highway at Gillies and she was thrown against the dash- board. Mr. Brown was not injur- ed. Constable Arthur Souliere in- vestigated.
