Page 2 THE HAILEYBURIAN THURSDAY, AUGUST 22, 1929 Many Applications in For Shares of Canada Northern Power Corp. --_----+ --- Already many applications for an allotment of shares of Canada Northern Power Corporation Limited 7% Cumulative Prefer- red Stock have been received at the Company's offices, according to a statement made by an official of the Company to-day. There every indication that the remarkable record of last year when an offering of 2,500 shares was oversubsribed by 50 per cent in four days will be repeated this year. To meet the demands of its cts- tomers, the Company has avail- able this year 5,000 shares, but a limit of 10 shares as the maxi- mum amount any one individual may purchase has been set. A popular feature of this cus- tomer ownership campaign is the partial payment plan which has been adopted. This makes it pos- sible for all thrifty people to be- come profit-sharing partnérs with the Company, as a cash de- posit of $10.00 will entitle them to a reservation for one share. This feature provides many people with an opportunity to save systematically, and interest at the rate of 6% per annum is allowed on all instalments. Another feature about the sale of this stock is that those who purchase it may at any time get their money back. The Company has established a Re-Sale Depart- ment, the services of which are at the disposal of customer-share- holders for a nominal charge. ROD and GUN seems With the approach of fall, the thoughts of sportsmen are turn- ing towards hunting both deer and feathered game. The Sept- ember number of Rod and Gun and Canadian Silver Fox News, just issued, contains an exception ally fine article on deer hunting by C.N. A. Ireson, which will prove of great interest to devot- ees of that sport. However, this is only one of a collection of equally good articles Want Ads. Bring Results and features which deal authorit- atively with other departments and adventures in outdoor life and which provide thoroughly good reading for all interested in outdoor life. Open seasons for game throughout Canada and a full report of the annual meeting of the Canadian National Silver Fox Breeders' Association are in- cluded in this issue. A Victory for Northern Ontario Recently Holditch's Bread was subjected to a test. The result was a victory for the North. Holditch's had a higher standard of excellency than any other bread in Ontario subjected to the same test. The following table shows the result of the test and the superior quality of Holditch's bread: possible Holditch's marks marks volume 10 10 colour 8 8 bake 3 3 form 3 1 bake shred 3 2 crust 3 & grain 10 10 crumb 10 10 texture 15 13 smell 15 15 taste 20 20 Total ---- -- 100 93 An actual gain of 80 marks entitles bread to rank as excel- lent. Accordingly _Holditch's bread reached an_ exceptionally high standard The great value of good-qual- ity white bread as an article of food will be seen from the follow ing quotations from A. J. Scho- field, M.D.., L.R.C.P., (Lond.), M. R.G.S., (Eng.) ; "Wheat contains (like milk) all the food necessary for life and the needed salts." "Bread is the staff of life, and no attention should be paid to dyspeptic faddists who claim to have discovered rather late in the day that it is the source of much disease. It contains the meat and vegetable principles as no other food really does, and can be eaten in such a variety of forms that none need tire of it. White bread well made is the most nutritious and generally useful." "Brown bread has by no means the superiority over white bread that is popularly supposed.
