Officers of the organization are thoroughly aroused over the sugges- tion that the messages, purported to have been sent by the missing filers, Bert Hassell and Parker Cramer, may bave been broadcast by some licensed amateur operator as a practical joke. "We have committed ourselves to the task of running down the per- sons who sent the messages," the league's secretary, Kenneth E. War- ner, said, "and will go to any lengths to apprehend and punish those re- sponsible. We are broadcasting the announcement of the reward from every amateur station in the league chain, and we hope, in that way to get comething definite and concrete to work on." Mr. Warner also declared that, should the person or persons who sent the fake messages be apprehend- ed, the Radio League will take an active part in the criminal prosecu- tion and will ask that the extreme penalty for the crime be Imposed.
