=~ "Country music in the aie Featuring > '3 3/, COUNTRY.' » by Barb Skelton Staff Writer Anyone, who thinks kids can't keep a secret, hasn't met a bunch of children with a really good secret to keep. Two years ago every child in Fesserton Public School knew they were making a quilt for teacher Paul Delaney but not one of them let on. Materials, staff, and -- at one time or another -- every kid from the Fesser- ton school managed to sneak in and out of a backstage storage room at nearby Waubaushene Public School to com- plete the project. It takes a contribution from every Fesserton School student to make a quilt. They make one or more every year. And they can tell you how. Amy says they start with pictures. They have to be really big, says Kim. So the teacher can trace them, Kelly explains, and so they fit the quilt squares, adds teacher "Sam" Brown. When Jennifer notes you can't erase when you draw, Brown explains her tracing pencil won't print over erasures. There's another little complication Jessica remembers: you have to write any words backwards. Mark tells why: when the backwards words are ironed on the cloth, they come out straight. Diann says proudly, "'I have two pictures in me quilt this year.' Aaron points out they have to learn to paint first, before they work on the patches -- using a tube, adds Melanie, with Shhh! It's a secret come out if you don't, Charlie explains. Chrissy cautions you have to wipe the tube when you're finished with it or the paint dries up. Kelly warns you can't squeeze the tube at the top, because it will get holes in it. Junior notes the paint won't come off if you get it on yourself. "Is it hard to do?" you ask. A chorus of 'yeahs" _ and a few nonchalant "nos" answer your a round little ball like a question. pen. Ryan says you have to Aaron says youhaveto paint the cloth squares hold it straight up Because the paint seca See Volunteer /page 16 Door Prizes No Cover Charges 322-3191 Country Hoedown Saturday, March 25th - 12 noon until 1 a.m. COUNTRY TYME 5S BANDS {RON COWBOY SILVER RAIL Celebrating Our 3rd Anniversary REFLECTION BEEILECLIONZ2 HAIR DESIGN MEDONTE BAND ILLUSION BAND Offers our valued customers 00% Door Prizes $900 per person $5 00 322-3 1 91 cover charge aie Expires Mar. 31/89. and to thank you for your patronage over the past years 522 Elizabeth St. 526-3869 Main St., Phelpston Help keep Red Cross ready THINK@*GREENSSAND@SSAVESSFOR St Patri Metamucil Reg. 340 g $4 99 .. or Sugar Free 225 g $6.29 $1.99 sz Best Beauty Lotion ass't. 500 mL? 4 19 Hismanal 18's All Hallmark Easter Cards Paramettes Adult Super Vitamins, 120 tablets ) CF) e, Best Beauty Cream ass't. 650 mL 99 $1.59 Tampax Tampons, 40's ---- | $5.49 Bayer Aspirin, 100's plus 15 tablet Beri $3.79 25% OFF $2.99 Allans Milk Chocolate Hollow Egg 659 Allans Misty Mints 200 g i = Ivory Soap - 4 personal size bars® 1 29 4 << Ultra Ban : 0 EF 29% 0 Lysol Disinfectant Spray, Reg. or Scent II, 350g Sunglasses Nivea Moisturizing Lotion 300 mL j eae Original or Extra Ry) / ae Enriched Formula $3.69 x All Plush Animals and Wooden Toys HURONIA MALL Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun. & Holidays 11 a.m.-5 p.m Page 6, Wednesday, March 15, 1989
