from pg. 1 Game three: It was the best piayed so far but Howard's record of 3-0 became 3-1, with a 7-6 loss to Folk. In a battle of undefeated rinks, Russ Howard only had two misses but they proved costly. In the fifth, B.C. took a pair when Russ missed a hit of a semi- buried rock in the 12-foot circle. Folk drew for two. In the sixth, Russ was light with a draw for two to the four foot, giving him only une, to tie it 4-4. That was chortlived when Folk iapped out a Howard stone for two in the seventh. In the late going, the improving Howard four- some, came back with singles in the eighth and ninth, but lost it in the 10th when Folk followed Howard to the four foot for a 7-6 win, and sole possesion of first place. Even with the loss, the rink seemed pleased with their play. "In all four games, we've gotten five perent sharper,' said Russ. Game five: A _ spec- tacular eighth end triple takeout proved to be the straw that broke the camel's for Al Delmage of the Northwest Ter- ritories. A-~ Territories rock, frozen on the hut- ton, had to removed by Howard to get one. He thew an out turn with all his might, and with rocks heading in every direc- tion, took three for a 7-3 lead. It finished up 8-3. KKK BRIER BITS: Russ Howard has lost his voice again. The Ontario skip, who'se vocal cords became silent three weeks ago in Trenton, is virtually silent right now. Russ says it isn't affecting his game, but may be af- fecting the sweepers. KKK A full complement of Howard supporters have congregated in Saska- toon. Howard (Russ and Say 337.
