PHARMACY 526-2781 264 King St., Midland Library expansion is eagerly awaited Expansion of the Le Caron library this year is one both the students and staff are looking forward to. The present library ac- commodates only one class at a time and not all the material is readily available. Librarian Raymond Marchand notes that under ministry of educa- tion guidelines there is much more emphasis in all subject areas for students to undertake ma- jor independent work assignments lasting from one to two weeks to full semester assignments. '""At present we have a great quantity of material we cannot put out because of space limita- tions." The new resource cen- tre will have 2,800 square feet of floor space, in- cluding two seminar rooms, one audio visual room, an enlarged study area and a librarian work room. "We will now be able to accommodate two full classes in the open library area as well as others in the seminar and A.V. areas," said Marchand. One feature of the A.V. viewing room is that its design will allow it to be used as a darkroom for the yearbook staff. Marchand said the big- ger and dynamic space will facilitate the research and study skills of the students, which is need- ed to prepare them for college and university. The old gymnasium is also undergoing renova- tions, expected to be com- pleted by September. Pot plants seized A Peel St. resident was charged Saturday after- noon with cultivating and possession of marijuana. Seven plants and $200 worth of drug-related material, including heat lamps, fertilizer, seeds and how-to books were seized. Charged with cultivating and posses- sion of marijuana is Ed- ward Bekooy, 30, of Penetang. New Penetang president Lyle Thornpson has been election president of the Penetang Rotary Club.
