The following week, Scott found himself at the Provincial Junior Championships at Chedoke Golf and Country Club, Hamilton. Also attending were Colin Staples in Bantam and Mike DeVillers both from Brooklea and Jamie Peden of Midland Golf and Country Club. Scott was able to attend the provincial championships through the generosity of Dr. David Carr. In the week long tourney, Scott failed to make the cut but finished 78th out of 160 golfers from across Canada. Scott estimates that $2500 was required for his food, lodging and transportation this summer in order to attend these events. In the fall, Scott will be attending the University of Guelph in the Psychology program and will likely be playing volleyball and golf for the University. Scott related that the U of Guelph volleyball coach purportedly said " I can teach anyone to play volleyball, but I can't teach them to be 6'5' (Scott's height)'. Wednesday, August 24, 1988, Page 13
