The Petras are the defending North-Eastern Ontario Women's Hockey Association Senior D Champions, a title we've held since joining the league two years ago. On Oct. 17, the Petras travelled to Parry Sound to take part in their Centen- nial tournament. In the first game of the season, the Petras lost 6-2 to the eventual champions from Tiverton. The next two games were a 9-0 win over Parry Sound and 4-2 win over the Hunstville Hur- ricanes, giving the Petras a second place finish. Saturday, October 24, the Petras were in Gravenhurst for an exhibition game against our North-Eastern Ontario Women's Hockey on the evening but were unable to fill the net. The Cents are struggling a bit at the moment but should make their presence felt before the season is over. Association rivals. With only eight players suited for the game, the Petra strategy was to build an early lead and then play defense to save the tired legs. The strategy worked to perfection as the Petras built a 5-0 first period lead and coasted to a 6-2 final. Angel Rumney and Anne Majors volunteered to help out the shorthanded team. The How Construction Petras will be holding their second annual Senior D tournament on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Penetang Arena. The Ontario Women's Hockey Associa- tion sanctioned tourna- ment gets under way at 8 a.m. with the host Petras taking on the Parry Sound Trilities and finishes with the championship game due to start at 7 p.m. Other teams in the tourney are from Gravenhurst, Huntsville, Oshawa, Milverton, Stouff- ville and Keswick.
