¥ Reading Stars Laura Frampton, Graham Frampton, and Cherylyn Davidson, read a lot of books to be trophy winners in the Midland Public Library summer reading contest. They received trophies, and, as did all of the other winners, medallions too. The reading contest has been an annual event at the library for a number of years. Winner reads 176 books Laura Frampton won't have much of a choice if she has to write an essay What I Did on My Summer Vacation. She read 176 books to win the Midland Pubic Library summer reading contest. Cherylyn Davidson read 82 books to win the junior girls division. Graham Frampton read 64 books. Jonathon Moody was the junior boy winner by reading 17 books. One thousand six hun- dred and sixty-nine books were read during. the contest. All of the boys and girls received a medallion and a certificate. The top four, in Fun day for HDH Bay Moorings and Butler Marine Services are spon- soring a FUN DAY at Bay Moorings on Saturday, September 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds from this FUN DAY will be donated to the Huronia District Hospital Campaign Fund. The goal set for this FUN DAY is $20,000. Choir tryouts start today Auditions begin today for the newest community choir in the area. Anyone interested in joining can call Susan Richardson, music teacher and former member of two prestigious Toronto choirs, at 526-2972 or fellow organizer John Coull at 526-7994. "T would really like to hear from all people in the area,' says Richardson, who will be the conductor of the choir. The choir will likely meet once a week, possibly Tuesday evening. At first, Richardson is counting on between 16 and 24 people to form the base of a strong choir, which eventually should scouts register The South Georgian Bay District Scouting move- ment will be holding registrations in various locations from Sept. 8 to 18. Beavers: For boys ages 5 to 7. Program consists of fun, games, crafts and story telling. Motto: "Shar- ing Sharing Sharing". Cubs: For boys ages 8, 9, 10.
