ame ae cant nu _ In the modified class, (#* Gunther Schmidt drove his Midland Peewee Braves travel to Huntsville -The Midland Peewee Braves travelled to Hunt- sville on Wednesday and came back from a 1-0 deficit to tie the Hawks 1-1. With such a low scoring game, the defences of both teams naturally dominated. Sparkling in net for Midland was Jeff Sauve who repulsed Huntsville attacks time and again. As he has become more and more comfortable at the goaler position, Suave is learning the extra things that assist so much, such as (trapping the ball off the first shot, passing off to the appropriate teammate, and better positioning on the initial shot. He even garnered an assist on the one Midland goal. Equally impressive were the efforts of the ornermen Chris Ingram, Geoff Ball, Countney Elliott and Tyler Strachan. All four checked hard and made the Hawks shooters pay for coming in close. From a positive point the cornermen were better positioned; from a negative view, too many loose balls in front were be- ing won by Huntsville. The forwards were a tired lot after such a hard fought game. Out of necessity they had to spend more time checking than advancing the ball. HELP KEEP RED CROSS READY! were Peter Kitay, Chris Bell, Justin Murdock and Ron Hutchinson, all of whom came close to either scoring or setting up scores. The lone Midland goal was scored by Kevin Lunnie on a short pass from his brother Brent. Solid checking from Jamie Summers and Tim Baker while patrolling the wins helped keep the score close. Like the defenders, the forwards seemed to back off from loose balls and greater work is need- ed on positional play. All in all though, an encouraging effort on the road.
