In four contests, Elmvale scored 16 runs and only allowed two. En route to the championship they blanked Hillsdale 2-0, Vasey Giants 4-0 and squeaked past Udney 3-2. In the championship match, Elmvale tallied a single run in the third frame and added another in the sixth, but exploded for five in the top of the seventh to win going away. Right fielder Brent Flem- ing led off the third with a single and scored on Paul Archer's one out double. Second baseman Tom McGinnis doubled to lead off the sixth and scored on brother Tim's two bagger with one out. Then in the fateful seventh, Fleming received a base on balls, advanced on Ken Graham's ground ball out, and scored on Ar- cher's single. Back-to-back singles off the bats of Tim McGinnis and catcher Paul Volleyball Partridge, along with Brent McLean's double, plated two more runs. After Tom McGinnis flew to the right for the second out of the in- ning, first baseman Brian Belcourt tripled, scoring McLean. McLean picked up the win going the distance on the hill, scattering four hits, only one for extra bases, walked two and fanned five. McLean paced Elmvale's 10 hit attack with a 3-4 game plus a free pass. Ar- cher and Tim McGinnis each collected a pair of hits. In the Consolation Final, Hillsdale slapped Bramalea 8-2. A one-out single by Joe Matheson in the first inn- ing started the ball rolling for Hillsdale. Mark Ronald followed with a run scor- ing double and scored himself on Rob Greenlaw's two-out base hit. Dan Ball and Brian Har- ris opened the second with back-to-back doubles but Ball was thrown out at the plate attempting to score club summer schedule The Midland-Huronia Volleyball Club has an- nounced its 1987 Summer Beach Volleyball tourna- ment schedule, with a sum- mer full of Saturdays at the lake. All tournaments will be played at Little Lake Park. The first tourney of the season will be mixed fours on June 20. Men's and Women's Triples will be played July 4, while Mixed Doubles will take place July 18. August 8 is set aside for another Mixed Fours tourney. The cost of entry will be $20 per team for Mixed Fours, $15 per team for Triples and $10 per team for Doubles. No pre-registration is necessary. All registering will be done a half hour before each tournament, with all starting times to be 10 a.m. Registration will take place at 9:30 a.m. The MVC will also be hosting a volleyball camp at the Littke Lake Beach Volleyball Courts from August 31 to September 4. The camp is for boys and girls in grades seven to 13 inclusive and will stress in- dividual and team skills. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The instructors will be John Bald from Wilfrid Laurier University and Vince Deschamps of the University of Waterloo. Cost of registration is $50 which includes a T-shirt. Games and tournaments will be played daily. Registration is limited, so early registration is recommended. After Breeden reached safely, Matheson scored Harris with the third two-bagger of the inning. Mark Ronald followed with yet another double, scoring Matheson, but was thrown out at third attempting to stretch the hit to a triple. A two-out single in the sixth by Matheson scored Ball and Harris who had reached on base hits. Ball was the game's hit- ting leader with a perfect 3-3, while Matheson was successful in four of five at- tempts. Mark Ronald chip- ped in with a 2-4 game. Nick McHugh collected the victory.
