Elizabeth says 'The Tamarack" is also the name of a tree. It is a needle tree, like the pine but is the only one to loose its needles in the winter and remain bare. In early spring, The Tamarack started in 1968, in Tiny Township (on the Balm Beach Road) and moved to Midland in 1972. The main items sold are Canadian-made gifts and crafts. The owners, Elizabeth and Heinz Hoefig, found that many travellers going to other countries could not buy any Canadian-made souvenirs at this time. Their stére carries Indian dolls, blankets, mocassins, hand- ~made sweaters and much more. Elizabeth and Heinz spend a lot of their spare time going to auctions to find old Indian crafts. They plan to stay in business "as long as possible" as they both enjoy what it is the first to appear and turns a golden colour with miniature cones. Be sure to drop into "The Tamarack" and say helio to Elizabeth and Heinz and see the many beautiful Indian and Canadian-made crafts and gifts that are on display. 'se Bold Buyers Bold Buyers, owned and operated by Elke and Guenther Drews specializes in the supply and installation of ceramic wall and floor tiles. Bold Buyers opened in 1976 with the intention of becom- ing the specialty store for ceramic tiles. It is the only store in the area, that concentrates exclusively on ceramic tiles. Over the years the selection has increased far beyond our expectations. We are now retailing tiles from virtually every European country and from such far away places as Japan, Brazil and Mexico. Our tiles come in all different shapes, sizes and colours. To judge the suitability of tiles for any given project or ap- plication takes expert knowledge and years of experience. To keep informed about new materials we frequently take part in seminars and through our suppliers we have ac- cess to some of the most knowledgeable people in the field. - Privately our family is involved in the Georgian Bay Row- ing Society and we are looking forward to a very busy row- ing season.
