Pilon points to some of the dog feces in front of the Midland post office. "It's really sad that peo- ple have to face this every day." Nutrition programs Midland Public Library will be offering a unique service during the last week of National Nutrition Month, which is sponsored by dietitians Canada. During the afternoon of March 23 and 24, a local dietitian will be at the library to answer questions regarding nutrition and related subjects. A survey of books on nutrition presently in the library has been done and the pros and cons of these books are open to discussion. Reviews of some of the reducing and fitness diets which are currently mak- ing the best seller list have been reviewed by members across of the Diabetic Association and will be available, lists of the many fine books on nutrition, from pregnancy to old age, suggestions to help with diets, coping with diabetes, with low salt food, how to read labels which will make sense in interpreting your needs and any other questions that might be bothering you in this field of nutri- tion, could be discussed with a qualified person. Dietitians have done their best to reach as many people as possible during the month and it was felt that focusing on what we have in our library might be another angle to explore and perhaps update that resource. Guides regatta The Ontario Ranger Regatta is coming to Penetanguishene in September 1987. Each year, the Provincial Competition is hosted by a local guiding group and its sponsoring town or city. Most regattas have been held in large cities: Ottawa, Toronto, Kitchener, Sar- nia, Hamilton and Oshawa last year for the 25th An- niversary of the Regatta. Rangering has grown in re- cent years in this area and their success at Regatta has promoted the organization of this year's Regatta. The Regatta involves 200-300 teenage girls and their leaders from across the province in competi- tion in various land and water events. Accomoda- tion and competition sites are currently being sought. As these locations are finalized the remainder of the planning will fall into place. The local committee, chaired by Jean Goodrow, is confident that the local residents and industries will be supportive of this exciting event. Equipment and officials will be re- quired for a number of events ranging from sail- ing, canoeing, first aid, tent pitching and orienteering. One of the goals of the local committee is to give the participants of this Regatta a feeling of the strength of the community spirit in the Midland/Pene- tanguishene area.
