Giesecke was just presented with the Harold Kettle Memorial Trophy, awarded each year to the member who does the most for conservation. Feast fit for angling kings In the midst of Satur- day's blizzard, 250 men braved the conditions to at- tend the Hunter's and Angler's annual Wild Game and Awards night. The official title is the Sportman's Memorial Din- ner in honor of predeceas- ed sportsmen who worked hard for the club. Also, the dinner came about because those who were successful in the hunt wished to share with those who enjoy game and either did not hunt or were unsuccessful. Gerhard (Gerry) Giesecke spent parts of Thursday and Friday plus all day Saturday in preparation for the big feast. And this does not include arranging for sufficient quantity to feed the starving hordes. The menu varies from year to year, but this year's fare included moose and venison roasts, cabbage rolls made with a combina- tion of venison and moose, venison and moose goulash, mooseballs with cabbage, coho salmon, roast Canada goose, smok- ed Lake Superior trout and herring, beaver served with green beans in a special sauce, and sauerkraut with bacon bits. After the repast, the Molson Awards were presented to various club members by Molson's representative, Emery Cadeau, Willard Cadeau, and Jack Scott.
