This play resulted in a 1st down near the goal line, but the Terminators were denied. Outlaws continue winning streak The E&R_ Discount Outlaws improved their record to 5-0-1 for 11 points in first place as they romped over the OPSEU Terminators by a score of 37 - 1. Morris Robitaille picked up 12 points on two majors from Q.B. Mike Hamelin to improve his stats to 62 points. Kent Goldsmith became a receiver overnight as he hauled in three majors on some nice catching ability. Peter Robillard snagged a Mike Hamelin pass and scrambled over the goal line for 6 points. Ray Gadouray picked up a single point conversion to hold him in sixth spot on the scoring ladder with 25 points. The OPSEU Ter- minators held off the Outlaws until the end of the first quarter as the defence played tight and kept them off the board. The Terminator offence romped up and down the field with pride as Q.B. Bob Hirst and Fred Sisilak threw several nice passes to their receivers for first down yardage. They scrim- maged from the 6, 5, 15 and 1 yard lines but could not dominate on recep- tions for any majors. Doug Waugh, Sisulak and Hirst picked up a lot of yardage to gain decent field posi- tions but came up short. Fred Sisulak picked up the Twelve Planning a hunting trip this fall? If so, the Ontario Provincial Police remind you that no hunting trip is a success if it isn't first a safe hunt. Here's the OPP's 12 point safety checklist: Treat every gun as if it was loaded; Never shoot at a sound. See your target clearly first; Never point a gun at anything you don't intend to kill; Exercise muzzle control of the firearm by knowing where the gun is pointed at all times; Unload all guns when you return to camp; Never fire a gun which has a plugged barrel; Never carry a loaded gun in a vehicle; Never bring a loaded gun indoors; Unload the fire-arm lone single as a 35 yard punt bounced into the end zone. The second game at MSS saw the Giants squeak by McBees Renegades as the bottom place teams battled it out to a margin of 12 - 10. This was the first win for the Giants as Q.B. Bob Haats and Rod Stubel clicked to connect with several nice passes to their receivers. Paul Welch and Bob Haats picked up the majors for the Giants. Welch scrambled 40 yards on a toss from Q.B. Haats as Haats picked off an in- terception and scrambled 25 yards to cross the goal line. McBees also played a decent offensive game as Rick Laving scored the on- ly major as Bob Sullivan picked up the 2 point con- version. James Robitaille punted two singles into the end zone to complete the scoring. McBee's remain winless as the Giants im- prove to 1 - 5 - 0 for two points. Game three saw the Illu- sions clinch the game in the final three minutes. The Dial-A-Movie Strikers were winning 7 - 6 until Q.B. John Larmand scrambled over the goal line to win 12 - 7. the Strikers were marred with a pass interference call which placed the Illusions in good field position as the hunting before climbing fences, jumping ditches or walking through dense bush; Never fire at rocks or water as a ricochet bullet can go anywhere; Wear highly clothing and camouflage outfits; Drinking and hunting don't mix. A hangover is a deadly form of impairment. Hunting can be a safe sport if you recognize and avoid the _ potential dangers. Hunters, in pur- suit of game, can become lost in the bush. Carry a compass and know how to use it. The OPP recom- mends that if a hunter discovers he is lost he should "hug a tree" and wait for searchers to find him. Before leaving on a hun- ting trip tell someone visible not Kids sports camp Buck and Rosemary Dawson, directors of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, Fort Lauder- dale, Fla., will give a presentation in_ the Midland YMCA on Oct. 16. They will talk about their sports camp in Ahmic Harbour, Ont. Parents and children are invited to attend at 4:45 p-m., in Room 3 and 4. ball was placed around the 40 yard line of the Strikers. Paul Piitz picked up the other major for the Huronia Optical Ilhusions. Paul Yorke snagged the on- ly major on a nice toss from Q.B. Randy Buttineau for the Strikers. Mike Ed- wards punted the other point into the end zone to pick up the seventh point. The Strikers defence played the Illusions tight to slow down any big drives. Their offence wasn't as sharp as last Sunday, as Buttineau seemed frustrated as he couldn't find any open receivers. He was also sacked twice as Gary Straughn played sharp defence to push the Strikers back. The Strikers' offence was also sharp as they picked up several sacks and tags behind the line of scrimmage. The Granada Toros lost their third in a row as the Destroyers edged them 19 - 6. Roy Freer continues to climb up the scoring ladder as he picked up two majors and a one point conversion for 13 points to increase his season drive to 35 points for fourth place. Sam Yerek picked up the other Destroyer major which was his first of the season. The Toros were without Q.B. Darryl Beam, so Dwayne Hill was called upon to fill his shoes but was unsuccessful. Jim tips for where you are going and then go there. Numerous searches have been carried out for lost and overdue hunters who said they were going one place but went another. Hunters who boat to their hunting area have the double responsibility of remembering the rules of Szarka also tried his Q.B. ability and managed to score the lone major for the Toros as he scrmabled and ran the ball in himself. The second game at PSS saw the Hawks swoop past the Neb's Flyers 24 - 8. Rick Dorion picked up two point conversions to hold onto third spot in the scor- ing race with 46 points. Keith Maracle, Luke Mar- chand and Pierre Genier all picked up majors on tosses from Q.B. Peter Maracle. Keith Maracle also picked up a two point conversion. The Hawks share third place after Sunday. Andy Zurawski picked up the lone T.D. for the Flyers on a toss from Q.B. Doug Ed- wards. Brad Copeland was good on the two point con- version to round out the Flyers scoring with 8 points. The closest matchup of the day proved to be that of the Redskins and the Brooklea Eagles. The Skins came up winners by a sheer margin of 15 - 14. Glen Bannon had a big game as he picked up two majors and a two point conversion on passes from Q.B. Andy Wickstead. Wickstead also punted a single point into the end zone to complete the scor- ing for the Redskins. Ernie Desroches and _ John Kopenoll scored the majors for the John fall trip boating. An overloaded boat is likely to capsize, throwing its heavily- dressed occupants into freezing water. A lifejacket that is worn is a real life- saver in this situation. All hunters should carry a basic first-aid kit and know the fundamentals of first-aid. Eagles as Pickett and John Kopenoll scored single point conver- sions to round out their scoring at 14. The Eagles dropped to second place in a three way tie and the Skins moved into sole possession of third place. The Outlaws remain in first, the Eagles, Hawks and Illusions all share se- cond spot, the Redskins hold third spot, and the Toros, Flyers, and Destroyers share fourth spot, the OPSEU Ter- minators hold onto fifth position and the Strikers are tied with the Giants for sixth spot. The Mick B's Renegades remain winless and in last place. Only eight teams will make the playoffs out of' the twelve teams in the league. If there are ties, it will depend on a decision of head to head games and then points for and against average. The league officials are also impressed on the con- duct of the players as this makes the game easier and a lot more competitive.
