Corn Husk Masks Corn husk masks were used by the Huron Curing Society as part of their "*traditional"' curing ceremonies. The history of these masks is very in- teresting. Fran Whale would like to teach you about the history and- cultural significance of the corn husk mask, as you make one yourself to treasure in your home. It will serve as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage of the Ouendat Nation who inhabited this area long ago. Basket Coiling By popular demand, Dol- ly Heasman will repeat her courses in coiled basketry. This time, in order to ac- commodate all who are in- terested, she will teach both a beginner's course, using craft yarn as your medium, and an in- termediate course, using natural materials you have collected to use. It is im- portant that you take the beginner's course prior to using natural materials. Learn to make beautiful baskets as the Hurons did in this very interesting and creative course. Music played an important role in the culture of the Hurons, as it does to many Indian people's lives today. It was used to celebrate almost every important event in their culture. Come and learn more about nature music in a morning of fun and exciting activities. When: Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Need: dress for the weather as we will be outside for part of the morning.
