Midland went on the attack from the open- ing whistle, and twenty minutes later, Dennis Moreau scored from about twenty yards out. Not to be outdone, the Italians counter-attacked and equalized two minutes later. Midland's newly ac- quired centre-forward, Dave Campbell, outraced the Italian defence to put the boaters ahead again eight minutes later. Their hope of finishing the half ahead were dashed when the Italians curled the ball just inside the high post in the dying seconds. After the breather, the dockers resumed their raids on the opponents goal, and a neat touch and go between Dave Campbell and Dave Jupp cumulated with Jupp sweeping the ball into the net to go into the lead again. Midland's efforts produced many more chances. Dave Camp- bell, who had a hand in both goals, found himsel with an open goal as a result of fine pass from Steve Jupp. He put the ball so high over the crossbar, it had ice on it when it came down, so did the coaches' voice. a Midland are playing with more cohesion this year as they were a yard ahead of the Italians all night. They should have tucked away a win, but a miscue on defence allowed the Italians to get back into the game for a 3-3 tie. Midland deserved a better fate but there is no shame in earn- ing a point from such wor- thy opponents. Midland must tighten up the defence, fewer lapses will result in them winning the lions' share of games this year. Midland will be playing the Barrie Greeks at Penetang Secondary School next Wednesday, seven o'clock kick off.
