Editoriais Valuable equipment IT'S BEEN ALMOST two years since Huronia District 'Hospital and Penetanguishene General Hospital has had its own fully operational heli-pad for Bandage One, Ministry of Health's helicopter ambulance. Almost every week the 'copter lands at either HDH or PGH to take patients to Metro hospitals. The helicopter ambulance is worth its weight in gold when it comes to quickly transporting patients who require the attention that only a major health facility can offer. Long may it fly. A job welldone IT IS SAFE to say, over the years this newspaper from time to time has worried about snow-covered fire hydrants in Midland 'during the winter months. We have often expressed our concerns editorially. However this winter, as well as last, there's been a real effort to keep the town's 350 or so hydrants snow-free. A verbal bouquet to Midland PUC and its outside workers is in order for a job well done. One can appreciate the effort that has gone into keeping these hydrants snow-free and the effort should not go unnoticed. Well done Cents MIDLAND STONELEIGH CENTENNIALS hockey club has wrapped up a super season. The Junior "C"' hockey club was eliminated from further play last week by Bradford Blues. Cents ended up first in the Georgian Bay Jr. "©" League and also took the championship round before coming up against a stubbord Bradford crew. Cents can be proud of this past season. The hockey club packed 'em in at Centennial Arena while crowds of followers took to the roads to watch their club play out of town. Players and management alike can be proud of Stoneleigh Centennials performance this season. The club treated hockey fans to some of the best shinny we have seen in years. Well done fellas - Be water wise DESPITE the fact there seems to be more and more open water in and around the bayports, those contemplating being the first out in their boats this spring might want to wait a few more days if not weeks. The water is a near freezing and should a mishap occur and one were to fall overboard he or she would have little prospect of surviving the shock. Be water wise. A special morning MORE THAN 50 people rose well before dawn, Sunday, to attend 7 a.m. Easter Sunday Morning Sunrise Service at Tiffin Park in Midland. Later most of them sat down to a breakfast of pancakes, sausages and pure maple syrup at the Midland Citadel of the Salvation Army. The singing, fellowship and food nourished the souls and bodies of those present. It was truly an Easter Sunday Morning to long remember. Out like alamb IT APPEARS NOT only did March come in like a lamb it went out the same way yesterday. : After having more than 527.6 centimetres (527-6inches) of snow dumped on us during the winter of 1985-86, we may very well have seen the last of the snow this season. However, don't hold your breath, the last snow to fall on the Heart of Huronia during the winter of 1984-85 was recorded on April 4, 1985 when a total of six centimetres of snow blanketed the area to write "v" to the winter of '84-'85. --Penetanquishene Citizen-- Published by Bayweb Limited every Tuesday at 74 Main Street, Penetanguishene, Ontario 549-2012 Second Class Mail Registration Number 2327 Punch -- CONE OLY A V-- ©1986 PUNCH PUBL. I would especially like to thank the following businesses. The Mountainview Mall Management and Staff for supplying and setting up the staging, tables, etc: The boys enjoyed the French Fries, Pizza, and Pop that was donated by the merchants of the Mountainview Mall. Without their assistance and co-operation it would have been impossible for the boys to enjoy this event as much as they did. Yours in Scouting, John E. Baker District Commissioner South Georgian Bay District Scouts Canada More details on Canada Pavilion Dear Editor: Transportation and communications are two sectors that are indispensable to human progress and survival. Canadians have always shown in- novation, vision, and leadership in these fields, if for no other reason than geographical necessity. This factor has been a driving force behind Canadian development; our experience in meeting our challenges has put Canada in the forefront in many fields. Our need to solve the complex problems of broadcasting in our northern terrain, for example, led us into the satellite field where we now have created the most sophisticated communications systems in the world.
