Brett victorious in Hiram Walker Open ARNOLD BURGHER The Midland Curling Club was the scene Saturday of the Hiram Walker Ladies Open Bonspiel featuring rinks from Midland, Orillia, Parry Sound, Penetang and Barrie. Sandra Brett's rink of Cindy White, Nancy Drennan, and Shirley Widdes captured top spot with an accumulative score of 37 and three-quarters. The Marilyn MclIsaac rink of Parry Sound came second with 35 and a half. Midland's Diane Patchell was two points back of MclIsaac in third. Brett and Patchell tied for fourth with 16 points after the first round. Brett recorded the highest point total of the Penetang Youth Bowlers sweep tourney « Base Borden's Circle Pine Lanes was the location of the Master- Senior bowling tournament on Sunday. The Master-Senior tournament has a master teamed with a girl and boy from the Senior division in their Penetang Recreational Hockey League held its mid- season draft on the weekend. The reverse order draft saw Commodore Hotel pick Drew Craig as the number one choice in round one. Pollard's Regrigeration picked Murray Guthrie while G. Willicers chose Bill McIntosh. Jerry Borsa was Therrien's pick. Huronia Optical passed and Hindson Marine pick Dave McKenzie to end the first round. Commodore Hotel opened the second round by taking Moe Forget from Pollard's and then Pollard's picked Terry Carruthers off the Hindson roster. G. There were two tiebreakers in the 'spiel. Midland's Lee Rusch finished fifth out of the 10 rinks entered: Lorraine Moreau's Penetang foursome came in_ seventh.
