The Lady Redskins were led by center Ruby Degenaar, who scored 27 points. Elmvale took a 2-0 lead in the second frame, but Midland got Sauve putting Midland on the scoreboard. The third period started with a whole new look to Midland Minor Atoms when Sauve got two more goals both unassisted, giving Midland the lead. Elmvale came back to tie the game but Midland exploded again when Mark Butineau from Justin Murdock and Sauve gave Midland the lead 4-3. Mark Butineau added another goal to put Midland up 5- In Penetang Recreational Hockey League action Sunday, Pollard's Refrigeration doubled their wins on the season by upsetting Therrien's Furniture 4-3. Dave Genier fired a pair for the victors, while Ron Lalonde and James Dupuis chipped in with singles. Ken Akerman, Chris Anderson, and Martin Maheu replied for Therrien's. Big Bob Monteith regained his lost scoring touch for Commodore Hotel as he fired three markers. But he was slightly outshone by brother Jim as G. Willicers romped to an 11-4 decision. Jim Monteith potted a pair and added three assists in the onslaught with Ken Lacroix clicking with a hat trick. Bob Gravelle recorded four points on a pair of goals and two assists. Other team members are Pam Davy, Joanne Farogher and Sheri Price. Earlier in the day, the MSS Juniors played Brock in a very hard fought battle, but came out on the losing end of a 59-50 score. Karen Graham played an excellent game both offensively and defensively scoring 24 points, almost half of Midland's total. Monique Armstrong with 10 points gave 100 per cent effort, as did Stephanie Jones with eight and Kerry Larmand and Tracy Mayo with four points each. What initially appeared to be an easy victory for the Mariners eventually proved to be a tough win after all, as the Huntsville goalie, Dan Caswell, played brillantly between the pipes. He foiled many excellent scoring opportunities for Penetang. Central Marine took the lead at the 7:30 mark of the first period when Scott Cummings took a pretty pass from his centreman, Adrian Maurice, who was credited with the assist on the goal. Noscoring in the second period, even though the Mariners had numerous chances, but they failed to capitalize on them or were beaten by a very determined Huntsville goalie, Speaking of goalies, both Mike Marchildon and Scott Galt were especially sharp throughout the game as they combined to record their first shutout of the year for Penetang. In the third period, it was Cummings again who scored for Central Marine. He took a nifty pass from Shawn McConkey in front of the Huntsville net to score his.second goal of the game. McConkey drew the assist as Penetang went ahead by a 2-0 score. The Mariners' third and final goal was scored by Tim Mason as he made a rush of his own to beat the goalie with only 1:10 left on the clock.
