Women's League representing nineteen parish councils. At 7:30 p.m. mass was celebrated by the Spritual Director Father R. Fenech Gonzi O.F.M., concelebrated by Monsignor Belanger, Fr. O'Neil, and Fr. Ferraro. Mrs. Mary Moriatry, organist, and choir led the congregation in singing the Good Shepherd Mass. The Epistle and the Psalms were read by Mrs. Emily Newton. The Gospel was read by Father Ferraro. The Homily was given by Fr. Gonzi. At the end of the mass Installation of the Northern Region Officers took place. Following the Mass the meeting in the Parish Hall was conducted by the Chairperson, Mrs. Mary Macaluss. Convenors gave their reports. Mrs. Peggy Nastasirik, President of the Archdiocesan Council of Victoria _Harbour-- Toronto, spoke on Stewardship and Leadership. Fr. Scanlon, Spiritual Director of the Archdiocesan, encouraged the members to continue doing great work for God and Country, also the Third World. Fr. R. The Lower Slobogia Social Club celebrated at the Georgian Family Centre. I understand both clubs enjoyed themselves. The Chamber of Commerce held their Sixth meeting of 1985 on Oct. 8. The Chamber of Commerce Dance will be held Nov. 2 from 8 p.m. until 12 midnight at the Harbour Restaurant - Downstairs. Tickets are $5 per person. All members are requested to contribute to the pot-luck buffet. It will be a cash bar. A thank you letter will go out to Darryl Juneau, the 1985 travel counsellor, thanking him for his work at the Tourist Information Booth. Vasey U.C.W. are holding the annual tea, bazaar and bake sale on Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. Plans for this will be finalized during their regular meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 23, when they will entertain their sister U.C.W. from Crown Hill. Mrs. Morley Edwards and daughter Lynn MacDonald, Mrs. Ted Vasey and daughter Hazel Drury attended the 25th anniversary of the Shorthorn Lassie of Ontario at Scotsdale farm in Georgetown on Saturday. Lynn and Hazel were Lassies _ representing the Sjorthorn breed in the 1960's. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Vasey were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Vasey of Edmonton and Mrs. Elva Vasey of Midland. their premises for the corn roast. The Parks and Recreation Board have requested representation and assistance by the Chamber of Commerce at Mini BonHomme: Marilyn Ditchburn and George Czindl will be at their next meeting. Next meeting of the Victoria Harbour Chamber of Commerce will be held on Nov. 5, at 7230" pss, sae tne Harbour Restaurant. George Czindl, president of the Chamber of Commerce, has decided to throw his hat in the ring. He will be running for councillor in the forthcoming elections. Victoria Harbour Council held _ their monthly meeting last Tuesday. Owing to 'Jay Fever" it was not a long open meeting. A By-Law was passed giving N.S.W.M.A. exclusive rights for the recycling operation within the Village. Councillor Jack Haight hopes to have a Recycling Information Meeting evening in the @ Harbour shortly. The next © November 4th at 7 p.m. due to Remembrance Day and the elections. @ The next meeting of the Mini BonHomme Committee will be held Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in the basement of the Municipal Building. One of the delegates, Jim Ball of the Lions Club, was Questioning the feasibility of their acquiring property near the Community Centre to erect a storage shed for the Lions Club Equipment. Council will check into this. Mathew Maxwell, of the Anglers and Hunters, requested permission to place a structure on C.P. property. This will also be looked into. Bob Harris came to thank council for replacing a culvert. Accounts _ totalling $223,256.24 were passed for payment. A By-law was passed naming NSWMA exclusive agents for the recycling operation within the Village. Pat Armstrong reports that there will be an NSWMA Open House held in Wyevale on Nov. 15. Council has donated $150 to the Port MeNicoll Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders. Parks and Recreation will be holding their annual Adult Hallowe'en Dance on Oct. 26~=s at the Community Centre.
