The cake cutting took place Sunday afternoon in the Filion Centre during a reception for committee members and spouses. Could be an annual event "TI 1 would appear this will become an annual event." With those words yesterday, Father James Farrell, S.J., director of Martyrs' Shrine confirmed, the Shrine plans to recall Pope John Paul's historic (Sept. 15, 1984) visit to Huronia with some kind of an an- niversary celebration each Sep- tember. As for Fr. Farrell's observations as lo the first anniversary celebrations staged here last Saturday and Sunday he remarked this week, "I was very pleased with the comments of those who were present. "Many of them told me the mass, the procession and the music all brought back a flood of good memories."' Some 400 attended Saturday's mass in the Shrine Church for the aged, sick and disabled. "They were delighted alt being asked to be part of this annual event."' Well in excess of 4,000 people at- tended Sunday's outdoor mass. During the Holy Father's visit in 1984 an estimated 100,000 were on hand to see and hear the Pontiff during his six hour visit to Huronia (Ste. Marie and the Shrine). 52.
