Top North American artists are to gather in Durham... Eighteen top artists from across North America will gather in the town of Durham, in the Grey Bruce region of Ontario on August 24 and 25. Many of these artists have received awards and achieved _in- ternational acclaim. Gregory Perillo will travel from New York to show his moving por- traits of the early American Indians. Joan Healey, an Edmonton artist, has painted the Canadian child's dream of playing hockey, in her work. Glen Loates hailed as one of Canada's premier wildlife artists, will be coming to Durham from his Maple, Ontario home. James Keir- stead, from Kingston, is well-known for his contemporary lands- capes executed with his unique _ knife-painting style. Robert Bourgeault is coming from his home near Detroit to exhibit his paintings of English country cottages. Toronto-based artist and illustrator Stewart Sherwood will attend. He has created humerous covers for McLean's magazine as well as fine art for galleries. Other top artists who will attend include Derk Hansen from Min- nesota, Tammy Laye, from Ilderton, Ontario, Lowell Davis from Issouri and Peter Etril Snyder from Waterloo. The event which has drawn this impressive group -together in Durham is the up- coming Canadian Collectables Show and Sale. Limited edition artwork designed by the attending artists will be on view and for sale and will include lithographs and original paintings, collector' plates, figurines and other fine collectables. Last year this art event drew ap- proximately 5,000 people. Once again this year the artists will be available to discuss their work with the public and to sign their collectables. A unique feature of the show will be the introduction of a limited edition porcelain plate featuring the locally renowned Kroehler furniture factory showing a_ historical view of this Durham area landmark. Performance displayed their scoring depth by registering eight marksmen. Tom Hook tallied twice with singles going to Mark Gieseler, Pat Brodeur, Kirk Swales, Peter, Jeff, Chris and Dave Wright. Martial Robitaille and Jack Mischpeter replied for Desroches. In the other series, Stoneleigh Pontiacs edged S: Charlebois Haulage 3-2 on Thursday night.
