Simcoe County Summer Youth Band to come Simcoe County Board of Education will again sponsor the Simcoe County Summer Youth Band Program for students Grades 7-13. The' three-week program will be held. from July 2 to July 19 at North Collegiate in Barrie from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. : provided for students from outside Barrie. Cost of the summer band program is $100. A beginning program will be offered for students who have never studied in- strumental music before. This "head- start'? program -will provide private lessons from professional music feathers, "petenaalce in small ensembles and junior band classes. An enrichment Smithing, cooking courses offered at Sainte-Marie Basics of blacksmithing, and fireplace cooking, are {wo summer courses being offered by the Friends of Sainte-Marie. Sainte-Marie's blacksmith Pierre Lefaive will teach the basics of blacksmithing, using the forge at Sainte-Marie. The course runs the evenings of the four Tuesdays in June. On June 12, cooks are invited to learn to cook a complete meal in the Sainte-Marie cookhouse fireplace, using ingredients available in the 17th century. The Sinicoe County Summer Youth Band Program will conclude with a concert which will feature the junior and senior bands and the best ensembles. Successful students will be issued a certificate of achievement and one- third music credit. Registration forms are available from each of the county elemen- tary and secondary schools.
