by CLARA POWER Midland District Dart League held its dinner and dance on Saturday March 30. All founding members were presented with medals. The dart league has been run over the winter, and the Port MeNicoll League are the champions. Al Haskell of the Commodore Hotel was singles winner. Jim Scott of Port Legion was runner-up. Commodore's Bill Works and Al Haskell were winners of the doubles. The runners- up were Jim Hanralty and Al Adams of Port MeNicoll Legion. Consolation winners in the Doubles were Jim Scott and Robin Proudfoo: of Port MeNicoll. Driftwood was win- ners in the playoffs. Your Portarama Committee met last Wednesday night. I Was super seeing things Star! 1o come together. Port McNicol! Legion has donated $500 to Parks and Recreation for the fireworks display. The Legion will continue to assist this committee as needed. Dave Strachan of Port MeNicoll Publie School reports, official buttons will be ready shortly. The Lions Club will host the Adult Dance at the Community Centre on Saturday, May 18. DJ. will be Jim Stubbings of Victoria Harbour. The dance will run from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.. Tickets ($5 per couple, including buf- fet) will be available soon Rick Henderson of the Port MeNicoll Anglers and Hunters tells us they are considering various enterprises, including a float in the parade, and will report back at the next meeting. Rita Miller, senior's group representative said, seniors will sponsor tea and sand- wiches at the Com- munity Centre from 12 noon until 4 p.m. ' followed by euchre. Josephine Waite is a relatively new member in our community who has voluteered to help with the talent showcase. Junior Reeve, Jennifer Hocken, assures us the Junior Council will be in charge of the "Trivia Contest"' re: Port MeNicoll's History. Junior Councillors Lori- Kerdtikis and Janet Lewis have also volunteered to be clowns in the parade. Guiding Around Port: Donna Jackson brought in the next bit of news. The rally at Maple Leaf Gardens, which was attended by Girl Guides, Brownies and Pathfinders from Port MecNicoll was great! Over 16,000 came from across Ontario. Special thanks to our parents who waited so patiently for our bus to get in. Cookie Day is coming. We haven't got an exact date yel, but be prepared. It will be around the Ist week of May, and we will be out to sell our Girl Guide Cookies --_ door-to-door. SL, a RIT TE NTE IE I SERS TT EE DET RI AI Bertha Lacroix The late Bertha Lacroix of Robert Street Wes!, Penetanguishene, died in Penetanguishene General Hospital on April 3, 1985, following a brief illness. Mrs. Lacroix, who was 71 years of age, was Kathleen Kathleen Wright of Midland died on March 30, 1985, in Huronia District Hospital. Her illness lasted about five weeks, She was 79 years of age. Kathleen Wright altended elementary school in Brussels, Ont., high school in Midland lachers college in Peterborough. She was Lea Moreau The late Lea Moreau died peacefully in the Sara Vista Nursing Home in Elmvale on April 1, 1985, at the age of 93 years. Mrs. Moreau lived most of , her life in Penelanguishene. She had been a resident of Aurele Marchildon The late Aurele Marchildon died sud- denly on March 29, 1985, al home at the age of 44 years. Mr. Marchildon's home was on Concession 14 of Tiny Township. He lived all of his life in the Penetanguishene area. He had been em- ployed at Waltec Sink- a life-long resident who lived all of her life in the member of the Ladies of St. Ann. In 1931 in Honey Harbour she married the late Arthur Roy Gaviller, who died in 1958. In Midland in 1969 she married Lawson Grant. Her second husband Sarnia and Frederick M. Gaviller of Toronto, brother Ian D. McLaren and sisters Eugenie M. Hicling and Alberta M. Hart. also two grand- children survive her. George Nelson McLaren and Alberta Morrow' were her parents. Kathleen United Empire Loyalist John Harnden and Isabella Cron John Harnden was drowned in action at Niagara in the War of 1812. John R. Morrow, her grand- father, was an early resident of Midland, a merchan!, builder, and mortician. Church officiated at the funeral service held in the Lynn Funeral Home on April 2. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Paul Bender, Gino Falconi, William Hickling Jr., Dr. Donald Stevens, and Donald Attridge were her pall- bearers. . the nursing home in Elmvale for the last three years. Her giandsons Marc, Claude & Jean Paul Moreau, Jim and Larry Duval, and Terry McLean' were _ her pallbearers. Her sons Ellery Duval of Oro Station, Jeremy & Simeon Moreau Jr. of Penetanguishene, Celestin & Armand Moreau of Penetanguishene, Morille Moreau' of Lafontaine, Alcime Moreau of Perkinsfield, daughters Delva (Mrs. Albert Moreau) of Barrie, and Reseda (Mrs. Hugh McLean) of Cambridge, also 61 Obituary grandchildren & 77 grealt-grandchildren, survive her. Her husbands Simeon Moreau Sr. & Moise Duval,' and her sons Delphis Duval & Doriste Moreau, _ predeceased her. ware for more than 20 years.
