Marlin Peewees do well in tournament Midland Marlin Travel Peewees travelled to Saltfleet on the weekend to participate in their first Major Peewee tournament. The opening game saw the boys face Woolwich. Woolwich jumped out to an early lead, but Midland battled back and with only 38 seconds remaining held a 5 to 4 lead: With the face off in Midland's zone and some poor clearing in front of the net, Woolwich scored to put the game into over- time. In overtime, Midland applied the pressure, but Woolwich scored a sloppy goal from centre ice to win the game. Scoring for Midland was Gary Miller and Jim McLaren with 2 goals each and Sean Mcliravey with one. Midland next opponent was Port Colborne. The Midland squad began to settle down and showed a drastic improvement in a convincing 3 to 0 win with Shane Cooper gaining the shut out. Trevor Irvine playing an aggressive style scored two goals with David Forest his line mate scoring the other. Midland now had to come up against a strong Mooretown team. Midland was beginning to play hockey and for two periods dominated Mooretown and held a 1 to 0 lead on a goal by Jim McLaren. The line of Miller, Irvine and Forest were flying and were dominate every time they stepped on the ice. In the other peewee game played, Midland Police Association doubled the score on Midland Times 4-2. In the bantam division, Wye Heritage against Stoneleigh 10-2. ares Cowan's novice play, In Penetang Rec Hockey League action on Sunday, Commodore Hotel triumphed over Pollard's Refrigeration 9-3. Commodore's Paul Robillard found the target four times and combined on three others. Mare Duquette and Bill Beauchamp each beat the Pollard's | netminder twice. In the second game of the night, Therrien's downed Hindson's 7-2. Construction of the peewee division 6-5 Marina~ squeaked by Smith's Mobile Homes and Walker's Duquette stays on top with tie Terry King got the hat-trick for Therrien's, while Bill Arbour, Jerry Lethbridge, Martin Maheau and Keith St. Amant had singles. Dave Lefaive assisted on four of the goals. Ken Edgar had the pair for Hind- son's. The final game of the night saw Duquettes and G Wilicers play to a 4-4 tie. Steve Kennedy notched a pair for Duquettes, while Wayne King and Rob Quesnelle had singles. G Wilicers got a pair of goals from Wayne Miller.
