Kings still undefeated omacpecteenisiie: siete oth- Penetang's Jr. "C" Kings remain undefeated this season following a 6-2 win over Stayner Siskins in Stayner, Monday night. Stayner opened the scoring early in the contest that saw both teams get physical at times. But, before the first period was over, Kings led 2-1 on goals by Tom Hook and Dave Robillard. Stayner's older arena and warm ice surface slowed down both clubs in the second period with only one goal being scored by King's Don Mon- teith, midway through the stanza. With less than a minute gone in the third period, Monteith scored his second goal. Kevin Beausoleil and Stuart Restrup rounded out the scoring for Kings. Penetang's Kenny Graham notched four goals against Huntsville Blair McCanns to lead them to a 6-3 victory in Huntsville, on Friday. Coach Terry Spiker said, he was pleased"' with his team's performance. "Actually," he said, "'My team played better than I'd expected." When asked if he expected a repeat of last year's championship team, he replied, "It's too early to say now. It's hard enough winning the Jr. "C"' championship once, let alone twice."' King's are now 3-0. "quite Ice is in arena Ron , Belcourt, manager of the Flos-Elmvale Arena, adds another layer to the ice in the arena. Marauders played 14 games, defeating teams from Base Borden, Aurora, Woodbridge, Barrie, and Stouville. The team's offense managed to outshine its defensive abilities, which is considered the team's. weaker area. Throughout' the tournament MSS' abilities continued to improve, especially in the defense and rebound departments. To win the cham- pionship, Marauders defeated Woodbridge, last year's Georgian Bay champions, 15-9 and 15-13. Marauders' next competition is in two weeks when they return to Eastview Secondary School to participate in a senior boys' tour- nament. 7-4 over Stayner Cents notch first win of season BY RUDY FLEISCHMANN Midland Stoneleigh Centennials finally notched their first victory of the season with a 7-4 win over the tough checking Stayner Siskins, Friday night. After falling two goals behind here in the first period, Cents came back with three goals, one each by Daryl Belcourt, Al Whidder and Marlon Gieseler. Only one goal was scored in the second frame by Midland's Mike Newhouse, assisted by Drew Varley and Mike Magloughlin. In the third period, Cents moved ahead 5-2 on a powerplay goal by Doug Barber. Dary| Belcourt picked up his second of the night at 4:39 assisted by Drew Varly. Before the game ended, Cents picked up one more goal by Dave Barber, assisted by Doug Barber and Stayner netted one off the stick of Charlie Wagner while Midland was short handed. Cents' coach, Ross McConnell pointed out, that team had improved vastly over the first two games of the season. "'One practice made a big difference," he said. McConnell believes his players are performing as a team now instead of as individuals. He feels the players are also missing team leader John Walter who should be back this weekend to play against Gravenhurst. Cents are 1-2 for the season.
