Up with People to premier in Barrie The energy, the ex- citement, the en- tertainment of the all new 1984-1985 Up With People Show is coming to Barrie on Nov. 28 and 29 at 8 p.m. at the Barrie Up With People's own Robbie Robot and his back up singers, the Tran-sisters provide a computerized look Collegiate Auditorium. Eastview Secondary Schoot Parents Association and the Barrie Examiner News are sponsoring this highly acclaimed two- hour musical ex- perience performed by a cast of 120 young men and_ women from 15 countries. During the fall of 1984, Up With People will visit 40 cities and towns from Quebec to Van- couver Island, they will perform live for over a quarter million Canadians of all ages. This 1984 tour is the at the music of the future largest national concert tour of Canada ever by Up With People. Hun- dreds of young Canadians will have the opportunity to interview to be a part of the Up With People educational and cultural program. Currently 25 Canadians are traveling with the program. Up With People's -music is a dynamic combination of popular fivecastsandmorethan medleys and original 300 Canadian alumni compositions, energ- have participated in this etically performed by the talented cast and band. There's music for almost every taste and age, from Renaissance and modern classic to the GoGo's and Kool and the Gang. In a medley from the 1950's, the stage is transformed into a high school gymnasium for the Junior Senior Prom, where girls in their ball gowns and guys in their tuxes, hop and swing to the music of Tony Bennett, The Cordetts. and Bill Haley and the Comets. Some of the old Up With People favorites . are there, too, including the group's theme song "Up With People' and the poignant ballad of a little boy's curiosity about equality, 'What Color Is God's Skin?" High-tech society meets its musical future when 'Robbie Robot" and his back-up trio, the Transisters, make their escape from a factory assembly line to the Up With People stage. Up With People has been seen live in concert . emerging, Over $60,000 in prize money at stake Over $60,000 in pur- chase prize money is being offered by MecDonald's Restaurant of Canada in their Fine Art Collection Com- petition. The winning artwork will form the nucleus of the com- pany's Fine Art Collection. The Competition, which is open to all artists residing in Canada, established or offers a $12,000 first prize for sculpture and $10,000 for painting or original work on paper. The winning entries, which could total as many as 10 sculptures and 20 paintings or works on paper, will be located in McDonald's new Canadian Head Office complex in North York, Ontario. George A. Cohon, President and Chief Executive Officer of McDonald's, said the idea of a fine arts - Competition is a very exciting one, because "the move into our new head office building in December will mark a significant milestone for MecDonald's in Canada and we want to celebrate it in as ef- fective and meaningful a manner as possible."
