The new province-wide program, which began in late June, is intended to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities among drivers and passengers of motorcycles. In 1983, there were 97 motorcycle drivers and 18 passengers killed. Sixty-six percent of the drivers in- volved were young and inexperienced. "The new manual is designed to provide the novice biker with specific safe driving techniques related to motorcycles, such as_ handling 'dangerous surfaces, reacting to emergency situations, seeing and being seen," Snow said. Frank Singer, 36, of Port Severn, was charged with mischief in connection with the puncturing of a car's tire. Singer was also charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, a baseball bat. Police received a complaint about a broken window at the Severn Boat Haven. John Hegyi, 29, of 'Toronto, was also charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, and with possession of a prohibited weapon, a knife. CEC's monthly (June) report tellall here Canada Employment Centre in Midland received 142 vacancies during the month of June according to an end of month report issued by CEC Manager Don McNee. MeNee said, this number was down from the corresponding month in 1983 when 260 vacancies were received and from the previous month when 188 vacancies were listed.
