Marg Dorion was three for three and knocked in two runs. There were plenty of sparkling defensive plays, despite the lopsided score. On the Penetang side, Marilyn Morrasse made an excellent catch, while on the run in the fourth inning. Carmen McNamara made a dazzling catch, when the 'Therrien's squad was_ putting "together a comeback. Donna Pilon ended the game with an exciting throw from left field. Midland's Cindi Gallagher hit the bail, deep into the leftfield corner, over Pilon's head in the fifth inning. The ball rolled to the fence, however, Pilon picked up the ball just as Gallagher' was rounding second. "Our offense has really been our strength ' in the first two games. It's plain and simple, if you got the pitching, you win games. We have good fielding, pitching and defense," Dubeau commented. Ball hockey yields plenty of excitement JAMIE Onan The Penetang-Mid- land Ball Hockey League began play Sunday morning at the Penetanguishene Arena on five fronts. Defending league champions S. Charlebois Haulage and Excavating Diggers led by Peter Robillard's two goals downed Hindson Marine Islanders 5-1. Mare Duquette, Brian St. Amant and Greg St. Amant all fired single goals for the Diggers, while avid Genier replied for the Islan- ders. Larry Cowan scored two goals and added one assist as Stewart's Gulf Oilers edged Mr. Car Wash 3-2. Dennis' Pelletier added a single goal while Kevin Dusome had three assists. Al Whidden cashed in for both Car Wash goals. Huronia Optical Hawks nipped Stoneleigh Motors Pontiacs by a 3-2 score as Dan O'Hara tallied a goal and two assists for the Hawks. Brian McReynolds and Terry King each counted once for the Hawks, while the Pontiacs scoring came off of shots by Gary Beausoleil and Jerry Lethbridge. John Desroches Const. Ltd. Block- busters with two goal performances from Doug Edwards, Dave Miller, Ed Cramm and Jack Mitchpeter walloped E & R Discount Outlaws 10-3.
