SCOUTING AROUND A) SCOUTS CANADA by HARRY BROWN Just a few thoughts about the Snowfrolic. If over 350 people could get together in one place and have as much fun as they did, it had to be one of the best ever run! Every word I have heard was en- thusiastic. Congratulations to the fine bunch of leaders who made it possible and an extra special thank you to D.C. John Baker. The scene was unbelievable, the suspension bridge built by the Venturers a big succéss, and we loved it. Now, the next event. Look to Mountainview Mall for Scout and Guide activity during Scout-Guide Week, and to Huronia Mall for more of the same. The malls should be busy, busy, busy as we let the public know how proud we are of the movement. Remember the Kub Kar Competitions at Moun- tainview Mall on March 3. See you there in the mall Opposite Zellers. Scout Skooters are in! And if you didn't know what they are, they are the Scout version of the Kub Kars, with all the excitement, too! They compete at the Wyebrdige Community Centre March 11 at 1:30 p.m. The First Penetanguishene Cubs welcomed a new assistant leader last Monday. Steve Phillips joined the Jungle family. 'Rikki' has been with the pack and has gained a lot Of experience. Congratulations to Akela Doug Rawson as he adds another leader to the fine group working with him. District Council met last Monday, Feb. 6, and One of the pleasant duties was the presentation to Ray Nicholson of a beautiful desk award for his service Over the past 10 years. It has always been a pleasure working On the same group as Ray and we thank him most sincerely as he steps down for a rest, Or a change, for his unstinting devotion to his task. Thanks, Ray.
