/ Lemieux leads Cents to victory RANDY bt ia Midland Stoneleigh Centennials played one of their consistant games of the season, Friday night, at Centennial arena, up-ending Oro 6-2. After two periods of play, Midland had built up an insurmountable 6-0 lead. Shawn Davy started the Cents' scoring, at 12:23, with an unassisted mark. Four minutes later, Mike Magloughlin scored, from Dan Whitton and Brad Copeland. Drew Varley increased the Centennial lead :12 later, with Whitton and Magloughlin drawing the assists. Shots on goal in the first period were even at ibys John Walter started the second period scoring, at the :23 mark, from Mike Newhouse and Al Whidden. Marlon Gieseler increased the lead to 5-0, with a shorthanded goal, at 3:26. Dean Marcellus and Mike Leo assisted. One minute later, Whidden scored; to make the score 6-0, from Marcellus and Chris Lemieux. Midland outshot Oro 13-10, in the second frame. Cents' third period was a costly one. Not only did Oro break Lemieux's shut-out bid, Centennials' leading scorer, John Walter was tossed out of the game for his involvement in a fight. Walter was also slapped with a three game suspension. Midland had a lapse early in the third period, with Oro scoring their first of two goals in the period. Oro's Dean Clark broke Lemieux's shut-out at 1:18 of the third stanza. Oro didn't score, until the 19:24 mark of the period, on the powerplay. Cents outshot Oro 10-9 in the period and 35-31 in the game. Centennials' goalie, Chris Lemieux played an outstanding game, which earned him the Centennials' "'Player of the Game" honors. Walter's suspension comes at a time when the Centennials' are up against some very stiff competition. Walter missed Mondays game in Stayner and will also sit out games against Gravenhurst, on Friday and Penetang on Sunday. Kings crown Essa to the tune 19-2 Once again, Penetang Kings displayed their halfway mark of the first period when Bob Less than a minute 2:31, later, Al Melnyk netted with McReynolds and Roy Blair Al Melnyk, McReynolds, Robillard, Brian Kings' third period shots total had himself a big night, scoring once and scoring. Rob Roy started the onslaught with Forget and Blair McReynolds, at 8:15. his first of four, from Brian McReynolds and Plouffe. Dave Robillard made the score 6-0, with an assist going to John O'Hara. At 11:18, Blair McReynolds went to work, scoring twice, in :10. Roy and Forget assisted on both cf McReynold's goals. The second period scoring was rounded out by Phil Cing-Mars and Al Melnyk. Shots on goal were 10-7 in the Kings favour. Forget started the third period scoring, at assisting. After Forget's goal, Penetang exploded for seven goals, in less than five and half minutes. Plouffe, Melnyk again, Weatherill and Plouffe added his third of the zame. Plouffe scored his fourth of the game, at 15:43, to round out the were 11-7 for Penetang. In the game, the Kings fired 39 shots, to Essa's 23. Brian McReynolds assisting On six others. Jim Plouffe had four goals and two assists and Al Melnyk also netted four goals and assisted On another. Legionmidgetslose On, Dec. "10.the Midland Legion Major Midgets travelled to the third Annual Midget tournament in Hunt- sville. The first game was against Acton, and with goals from Bruce Marsden, Chris Moreau Kevin Belcourt and strong goaltending from Gary Watson they defeated Acton 3-0. A medal for the most valuable player was given to Gary Watson. The second game was against a _ stubborn North Bay team who never gave up, At 4:34 of the first overtime period Kevin Belcourt scored to give Midland a 4-3 victory. The next game for the Legion Major Midgets is Friday night at the Midland arena, against Collingwood for first place in Georgian Bay League.
