Oldies at the Falls By Bill Boyd Both Midland Oldtimer teams journeyed to Niagara Falls this past weekend and par- ticipated in the annual Niagara tournament. The "Over 35's" played in Friday evening and lost to Ancaster 3-1. Fred Flood was the lone Midland scorer in this contest. 2 On Saturday morning it was 6-4 for Midland against Niagara Falls Skylon. Ross Heacock and Ken Davidson had two goals while Fred Flood and Rick Leaney added one apiece. In their final game the Over 35's played a squeaker with Hamilton Krazy Kanucks. This game ended in a 3-3 tie but Midland was later eliminated by virtue of goals against in the tournament. Midland scorers were Heacock, Brian McKell and Hughie Robertson. Brian Lemieux provided goaltending in all three contests. The "Over 45's" played four games winning two and losing two. In the first game they lost 5-4 to I.H.L. Wally Boyer had two while Harvey Benoit and Murray Yorke had the others. In the next game Midland defeated the St. Catharines Old Days 2-0. Boyer had both Midland goals. In the third game Midland defeated Niagara Falls Stanley Steamers 5-1. In this one Boyer had a hat trick. John Webber and Benoit rounded out the scoring. In the last game it was 6-4 for the Hamilton Old Steamers. Tom Garner had 2. Boyer and Benoit one each. Terry Moore played in all four games in the twine. The Oldtimers are now preparing for their second annual Over 45 tournament which they will be hosting on March 10th and 11th.
