Hutchesson of Wasaga Beach has been appointed to the North Simcoe and Orillia Housing Authority, Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Claude Bennett announced today. Hutchesson, of T.A. Hutchesson & Associates, real estate appraisers, will serve as a federal representative on the eight-member authority which manages Ontario Housing Corporation's 701 assisted housing units in Collingwood, Elmvale, Midland, Orillia, Penetanguishene, Stayner and Wasaga Beach. The federal, provincial and municipal govern- ments nominate individuals for appointment to the housing authorities by provincial orders-in- council. The province appoints the housing authority chairman. The day-to-day management of all of OHC's 94,000 housing units is carried out by local housing authorities, although the primary responsibility for assisted housing remains with OHC. OHC chairman Allan Moses said: 'By volun- teering their time to serve on the local housing authority, private citizens such as Hutchesson are helping to ensure that Ontario's assisted housing program is sensitive and can respond to the needs of the many communities it serves." The North Simcoe and Orillia Housing Authority manages 501 senior citizen assisted housing units and 200 units for low-income families.
