He died, suddenly, at age 52, in Penetanguishene General Hospital, on Aug. 18. Married in 1949 in Midland, born in, and a life long resident of, Penetanguishene, Ted Ladouceur is survived by his wife, Marie (Laurin) Ladouceur of Penetanguishene, by his sons Roger of Kingston, Louis of Abbotsford, B.C., and Tony of Penetanguishene, and by his daughters Sally (Mrs. Oliver Brabant) and Norma (Mrs. Dennis Crowe), both of Midland, Marjorie CM rs . Lindsy LeMesurier), Irene (Mrs. Jim Charlebois) and Audrey Ladouceur, all of Penetanguishene, and Ann (Mrs. Donald Mayheu) of Abbott- Wildlife art show at Wye Marsh The third annual wildlife art show -- VISIONS III -- is being hosted Aug. 21 through Sept. 10 by the Wye Marsh Wildlife Inter- pretation Centre, High- way 12, Midland. This year 11 artists from Simcoe County will be displaying their interpretations of the wildlife found 'in the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region of Canda. Their media includes wood carving, oils, watercolours, printmaking, and ink. The highlight of the show will be on Aug. 31, when wildlife artist Michael Dumas will be in attendance. Dumas will be meeting casually with the public from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will give a special evening presentation from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the wildlife centre. Throughout each day there will be special film presentations on the artwork of Robert and pen Bateman, Maynard Reece, and Dumas. Located on Highway 12, just east of Midland, the Wye Marsh Wildlife Interpretation Centre, Canadian Wildlife Service, is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free to both the art show and the wildlife centre. TV Ontario proposes children s channel On Monday, 15 August TVOntario filed an application with the Canadian _Radio-tele- vision and Telecom- munications Commi- ssion (CRTC) for a licence to operate a full- day national children's cable television service. The service will be called GALAXIE. GALAXIE promises to' meet the need in Canad for high-quality programming designed especially for children. It will also contribute substantially to the development of a world- class Canadian industry for production of children's television programs. One of TVOntario's responsiblities, and one reason for TVO's ex- cellent reputation, is its provision of programs that meet the developmental needs of Ontario children two to 14 years of age. These programs are sold outside Ontario, and seen by children Canada, the U.S.A. oe many other countries. GALAXIE, which will be a self-financing, commercial-free un- dertaking operated by TVOntario, can _ be economically viable only if offered nationally. It will ex- pand and enrich the existing TVO hours of service to Ontario children and, at the same time, meet the developmental needs of children across Canada, by offering proved, research-based, _high- quality programs, in English and in French, designed especially for them.
