Ron Marchildon brought us some exciting hockey RON MARCHILDON is stepping down as coach of the Penetanguishene Junior "C" Kings. Ron cites personal reasons and family commitments for his decision. In a nut shell he, like so many of us, has discovered there's just not enough hours in the day to accomplish everything one sets out to do. As coach of the Kings, Ron proved he could coach and coach well. The club will miss Ron Marchildon behind the bench as will the fans. It will be a difficult task finding his replacement but with any kind of luck, Kings' management will find a person (or persons) equal to the test. Thanks, Ron Marchildon, for a couple of exciting seasons of Areal jewel! ISN'T IT GREAT seeing the parking lot at the town dock in Penetanguishene being used these days to its fullest? Now that it has been paved and properly marked, its a joy to -- travel down Main Street to the dock to park for a time (no pun intended). Residents of the town can be proud of this jewel in their community's crown...we are. Ecole St. Louis ECOLE St. Louis, Penetanguishene, will benefit from a special $500,000 capital works project allocation from the provincial Ministry of Education. The funds will be used to construct a new building which will house two kindergarten classrooms and six regular classrooms. As for the funding it couldn't have come at a better time in the school's history. . Ecole St. Louis is a school in which French is the language of instruction. It was established in September of 1980 as the result of the formation of a Roman Catholic Separate School zone in Penetanguishene. Accommodation for the school has been provided in a sharing arrangement with the Simcoe County Board of Education. As Ecole St. Louis grew, the sharing arrangement became pressured. The new capital allocation will provide for the school to be a distinct entity on its own. Well controlled AN ESTIMATED 200 motorcycle gang members converged on a Con. 18, Tiny Twp., site Friday for a weekend celebration. The occasion was intended to mark the 22nd anniversary party of the Vagabond Motorcycle Club. Clubs represented at the 'do'? read like a who's who: Vagabond, Iron Hawgs, Para-Dice-Riders, Outlaws, Lobos, Scorpions, Drifters, Chosen Few and Last Chance. fn Some of the bikers came from as far away as Michigan and exas. There were no serious occurrences, Midland OPP reports, and as quietly as club members arrived Friday they left for home Sunday. The fact that for the most part everything was orderly is a tribute to those who attended the bash and to those (police) who manned check-points in the immediate area of the party. You gotta take the bad with the good! WE DOUBT if we needed to tell you, it has been all but a rainless summer here in the Heart of Huronia. However, a rainless summer can have its benefits: the lawn has been so brown and dry it hasn't required its normal once-a- week mowing. Trouble is, there's always the garage, picnic table and porch that needs repainting! Air Force reunion in Dunnville Dear Editor: There are no doubt readers of your newspaper who would be interested in knowing of the for- theoming 38th Annual Reunion of No. 6 Service Flying Training School, R.C.A.F., Dunnville, Ontario, and I would appreciate it if you would provide a news item in a coming issue of your newspaper. For the past 37 years Royal Canadian Air Force personnel who were stationed at No. 6 S.F.T.S. during the war have gathered in Dunnville to celebrate their station reunion. This year marks their 38th get-together which will take place Sept. 16, 17 and 18. The event begins with a reception Friday evening, hosted by Mayor Frank Marshall. _A golf tournament will be held Saturday mor- ning and in the afternoon a demonstration of Ultra-Light Aircraft, a parachute drop, a parade, memorial service and fly-past of wartime Har- vard Aircraft is scheduled, tollowed by the annual banquet in the evening. Group Captain A.J. Bauer, C.D. national president of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association, will take the salute and inspect the band and air cadets of No. 150 White Tiger Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Cadets of Hamilton, Ont. The weekend closes Sunday morning with an outdoor "'Flapper and Banger" breakfast at the Riverview Motel. All wartime personnel are invited to attend. If not on the mailing list, please contact: Frank Scholfield, Adjutant-General P.O. Box 187 Dunnville, Ont. N1A 2X5 Ph. (416)774-7595 (Bus.) (416)774-5480 (Res. ) The publicity we have received in the past has resulted in the attendance of several "first timers" each year and has made it possible for us to hold this rather unique reunion annually since the war ended in 1945. Your co-operation will again be appreciated and will help to make our reunion another great success. Yours very truly, Frank Scholfield Adjutant-General Expresses appreciation Dear Editor: On behalf of the HDH Auxiliary we would like to express Our appreciation to you for your coverage of our 18th Annual Antique Market. It was most reassuring and helpful to have such terrific community support from your paper and we're sure your informative stories and pictures in- creased our attendance. Special note of thanks to your Murray Moore for all his effort and time expended in his articles and pictures both preceeding and during the market. Unfortunately, we didn't quite reach our goal of $4,000, but we feel this was greatly due to the overall economy and certainly the heat wave didn't help! However, we were extremely pleased with the market and feel quite successful with a profit of approximately $3,500. It was obvious that there was a lot of interest in this event and all involved had a good time. Once again thank you for your interest, support and co- operation. Sincerely, Julie Mudde Cathy Martin Outstanding success Dear Editor: St. Andrew's Centennial Manor would like to thank the Public for supporting us and the following Midland Merchants for allowing us to place our Heart Fund Contribution boxes in their stores: Radio Shack, Home Hardware, Mac's Milk, Huronia Mall Photo Store--The Photographers, Watson's Studio, Hairlines, Keenan's Department Store, Municipal Savings and Loan Company, The Sea Horse, Elmer's Shoe Repair, The Positive Touch, Martin's Christian Book Supplies, Jungle Book Pet Shop, Huronia Office Supplies, Here's Look'n Atcha, The Parlor and Fanastique Unisex Hairstyling.
