GB ladies into playoffs This picture was taken during a recent women's fastball tournament held in Penetang, in which some of the players from the Georgian Bay Ladies league joined together to compete as the GB All Stars, Now the girls are entering playoff time, as the Sturgeon Bay team won the regular season lille in oa sudden-death game with Midland Therrien's. Action started in the first round last night, and countinues in Coldwater and Midland on Thursday. Perkies barely alive as SRFL winds down: Perkinsfield Dial-a- Movie bantus kept alive their faint play-off hopes on Monday night with a thrilling 8-6 win over Caswell's Antiques in Simcoe Rural Fastball action at McGuire Park in Penetang. Ernie Quesnelle got the win, and Gord Dusome contributed a big two-run double to the Perkinsfield cause. This win pives the Bantus a 6-12-2 won-lost- tied mark for the 'season, and completes their schedule. The 14 points ties them for the last playoff spot in the ll-team league with E}Imvale Sporting Goods Expos. Wyevale Hawks have been eliminated from the playoffs although they are one of the most improved teams in the SRFL. They finished with a 4-15-1 record for nine points. Hawks finished their season on Monday night also, as they dropped a 9-1 decision at home to the Elmvale Mets. Tim Belcourt took the win for the Mets, as they too kept alive flickering playoff aspirations. Bob Lapham was the loser. Mets have five wins and two ties in 17 games for 12 points in the league schedule. Only Mets, Perkinsfield, Wyevale, and Vasey Royals have completed the scheduled 20 game season. The rest of the league is trying to finish playing rained out games from earlier in the season before they start the playoffs. Races for the top spot and the final playoff spots are hotly con- tested in the SRFL this year. Midland Athenian Raiders trail top-ranked Phelpston Hotel Phillies by three points, 30 to 27 with two games to play each. Wyebridge Warriors are third with saat, * 25 points in 19 games, followed by Caswell's of Penetang with 22 points and two games left. Hillsdale Hustlers are next with 19 points in 18 games. The two Vasey entries are sixth and seventh.
