Vasey Eleanor Edwards Carol Graham Mr. and Mrs. Gary Edwards, Chris and Darren attended the Lalonde family reunion at the Penetang Curling Club on Saturday. Visitors during the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Edwards were Mr. and Mrs. Julien Renaud and Tyanne of Barrie, Mrs. John Sickich and family of Stoney Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Urquhart and family of Hamilton. The Vasey United Church celebrated their 74th anniversary on Sunday with two ser- vices, filled to capacity. The guest speaker Rev. Robert Rumball gave two very. inspiring messages. In the morning '"'I'd rather see a sermon" and in the evening '*Reaching Out"'. Special music in the a.m. was by the Vasey Choir and in the evening the Hastings sisters Wyeval < by Jeanne Webb Wyevale has been a busy spot this spring. Beginning at Wyevale Central School, they had a very successful Science Fair April 6th. Congratulations to all those who won firsts and seconds in the three categories. We also commend those who competed at the Area Level in Midland, carrying away top awards and bringing home the trophy. On April 21st, was the Wyevale Spring Concert put on by the school, drawing a full house. All proceeds from the ticket sales are being used to help support the Grade Fours Camp Kitchie weekend. Winners and prizes are as follows: ist prize-Afghan-Mrs. Wendy Rochon, 2nd prize-child's lamp-Mrs. Linda Redforth, 3rd prize-a stuffed animal to Mr. Ron Brewster. Pupils and staff wish to thank all those who purchased tickets. We say thank you to teachers and pupils for a wonderful concert. We are pleased to see all the Floridites home. Some of the residents who spent part of the winter there are: Mr. and Mrs. Ike Brock, Mrs. Becky Dunsford, and Mrs. Elwood Blow, Mr. and Mrs. Morley Blow, Mrs. Madge Holt and Mr. and Mrs. Sid Price and family, Mrs. Elmira Freeman, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Bumstead and Mr. Archie Bumstead, plus many others. Madge Holt and Vera Phillips also tried Mexico out, as did Lawrence and _ Jill Reynolds. Mrs. Phillis Benson enjoyed a trip to Australia. Mrs. Bessie Webb and Mrs. L. Barber spent some time in. Hawaii. Unfor- tunately Mrs. Barber was sick there. Mr. Wyevale Community has also had some sad notes. Deepest sym- pathy is extended to the ~family of the late Ralph Mertz. Ralph passed way very suddenly on April 25. He will be greatly missed. Another shadow has been hanging over the area. Last fall Glen Goldsmith and close friend, were _ both drowned in a _ hunting accident. The friend, Fritz Tews' body was found at the time. Glen's was found just this week, on May 17, our deepest sympathy and prayers are with the family. Sympathy is also extended to the Peter Webb Family. Cheryl's father, Mr. Morley Lyons, passed away very recently. Now a lighter note, not all is sadness. Congratulations and Best Wishes to Kelvin Marcellus and Debbie Marchesky, who were married in Toronto on May 7th. Many of the Wyevale relatives and friends enjoyed almost a weekend of festivities there. Mrs. Jean Green, from Portage LaPrairie, Manitoba, was down for the Marcellus-Marchesky Wedding. A Community Shower was held in the Orange Centre on April 25, in honour of Kelvin Marcellus and Debbie Marchesky.- They received many useful and lovely gifts. The Community surprised Marilyn and Glen Bumstead with a party for their 25th Wedding Anniversary, May 10th. About 50 people gathered at the Bumsteads and presented them with a beautiful painting of the Wye River and the Mill, done by Winnifred Reynolds, a local artist. They also gave them a silver casserole and silver holders for tooth brushes and a glass for the bathroom. A lovely evening was had by all. Later in the week they were again surprised by another Anniversary Party. About a hundred friends and relatives gathered to congratulate them. On May 12, the Free Methodist Church people surprised Jenny Caston and Hubert Sch- wartz with a grocery and money shower. The money is to be used towards furniture. On May «17, -the Community again gathered at the Orange Centre. This time it was to extend best wishes to Sheila Reynolds and Greg Webb, who plan to be married on May 28th. They also received many useful and lovely gifts. Today we wish to congratulate Mr. Harry Hunt, who has_ been chosen to serve on Tiny Township Council, to replace the late Ralph Mertz. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Caston enjoyed last weekend at Wesley Acres, near Belleville. Big family reunion holiday weekend with Mr. Charles Brown were Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Nixon, and Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Nixon and Michael all of Toronto. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Vasey were Misses Clara and Hazel Eagle of Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Parliament of Beaverton. Mrs. Bill Howe of Hamilton was a guest of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rumney for a few days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Calder Hunter and family of Crossland visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Robinson on Sunday. Mrs. Bertha Waples of Elmvale visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Rumney during the holiday weekend. Rev. Walton Tong of the Division of Finance for the United Church of Canada visited the congregations of the Victoria Harbour Pastoral Charge last Tuesday evening in the Vasey United Church to bring more information on the workings of the Mission and Service and to explain where and how this operates. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Smitham attended the 40th wedding any niversary in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Belanger in Midland on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards had family home for the holiday weekend.
